It's got some fatness of the arse and a horrible colour, but compared to most CRX's it's near perfect.

Well, it may not be gold, but they think its worth its weight in gold. Austin's only SL65 AMG BLACK. Click here for the full 805x543 image. http://austin.craigslist.org/ctd/1690161918.html My guess is you wont see much demand for a $300,000 SL series when you could easily get an SLR for less. Since the owner of this car probably will not care about the performance, can you imagine how galling it will be for them the first time someone confuses it with the $40,000 version their ex-wife drives? Seems like it might be harder on an old car like that. You could always just rip out the lock cylinder and hardwire a start button.

How bad do I have to "really want it" to get this car for free? 1976 Datsun Nissan 280Z Date: 2010-04-19, 9:04AM What I have is a white 1976 Datsun ( Nissan ) 280Z. Its got 195k miles. Its not in very good shape. It runs the last time I tried to start it, but the clutch is bad, therefore not drivable. It would make a great parts car, as there are many straight clean body panels. Everything is original on it. If you really wanted it, that price is very negotiable. In other words, right now I am willing to give it someone. Spicy Chili posted:How bad do I have to "really want it" to get this car for free? How much do you like working on cars? This is an old car, and will need lots of stuff. They're easy to work on and parts aren't expensive, but at that age and mileage you'll be putting in a lot of garage time. If you're not good with a wrench and/or don't enjoy working in the garage, this is not the car for you. As far as how bad do you have to want it - just call him up and say you don't have any money but the Z is your dream car and you've always loved them and by the way you can be there in 20 minutes with a car hauler.

Nah, just need it for a parts car for the '77 I already have. Just don't want to be sodomized to prove how much I "want it". But then again, there's not a whole lot compatible between the '76 and '77, is there? Pretty much need the r200 differential for my eventual RB swap, and maybe some trim pieces inside.

Splizwarf posted:$1500 would be a better deal. For $2000 with over 250k on it I'd expect it to not go through oil like that. Losing oil at all is not normal for Volvos, they don't do it unless there's something lovely and interesting wrong with them. Tell us if that oil is getting burnt or leaving the engine via various seals. If it's just seals (and the interior is tits, climate control stuff works, it's got speakers, the tires aren't dry-rotted) and you can get it for $1500, good enough, seals are all reasonable to replace and inexpensive. If it's burning the oil I'd keep shopping; seals are fun but I don't want to play with ugly problems (hosed rings? blown-by turbo bearings? new valves?) on a car that I just paid money for. Expecially if you want a new car because you don't want to pay for your current one's parts addiction. Yeah my '91 940 Turbo hasn't leaked a bit since I got it and runs great consistently. All that's left to fix is the cat-back since there's a hole near the muffler. I'll probably be selling it by the end of summer, need another truck/van to replace the stolen El Camino and I'd rather get the Mustang back on the road and sell the Volvo at this point since they both need supreme. I'll post some info in the Volvo thread next month if anyone is interested.

My dad had an old black custom van when I was a kid. Years later (last year) I was going through some boxes he'd left behind after the divorce, and stumbled onto a box full of magazines about vans from the 70s. It kinda blew my mind a little that enough people were into doing things with vans that there was a whole professionally-published magazine about it.

I really don't think c4c did much to the use vehicle market other than taking a few thousand late 90's Explorers out of the system. Used cars have a tendency to not go below $1000 no matter what the year, unless they need major work. Also, people are greedy. Personally, I'd love to see a study that put together data from every Craigslist entry for a specific query for one major city in like a one year period. I'm sure you'd see trends based on time of year and probably would also see price fluctuations as well.

Matlock posted:That's well past any sort of restoration. If that's good enough to get an effectively built-from-new-shell-and-parts car classified as a "restoration" of a '68, I'd view it as well worth the money. For example, here in the UK, it would mean I could keep the car in a free annual taxation band, get classic insurance, and be permitted much lower standards at the annual MOT (roadworthiness) inspection. I'd pony up $1k for that. Of course, maybe I'm overthinking things, and it's the stereotypical "Sixties musclecar = worth munny" old-bastard-with-field-of-deteriorating-classics psychology.
