Hydrogen burns with an almost ultraviolet flame - witness the Space Shuttle for the best example as it's fuel is liquid hydrogen/oxygen and it burns almost without visible flame. So unfortunatly yes, bullshit. It's more likely to just simply be unburnt nitromethane igniting in air as it is so hot.

As much as I want to call every one of those drivers idiots, I myself once ran a light and it could have been a VERY bad accident. I was driving an unfamiliar road in the morning, and the sun was RIGHT in my eyes. I didn't realize that it was a light and not a 2-way stop for cross traffic and continued on at 55mph. Crossing through the intersection probably 3 seconds after it turned red for me. Cross traffic had just started to move, but stopped after a couple feet to allow my careless rear end to zip on through. I didn't realize what I had done until I saw the traffic light, red, in my rearview mirror. I've been a lot more careful in the 5 years since.
