Yeah, she's black. She had a Michaeljacksonoplasty. It's a bit of information that she really doesn't want released to the general public yet, so that's why Wikipedia is still claiming that she's Italian. Mum's the word :ssh:

I've been listening to it on repeat for the last couple of hours, I love it.

Although I guess it probably wouldn't fit on an album of electronic pop songs. Something to keep playing on live.

The thing about this song is that it sounds more like a Stefani Germanotta song than it does a Lady Gaga song.

With that said, I love it and can't stop listening to it.

I love the lyrics to this song when I can make them out in the song. It reminds me of Speechless a bit, which I didn't like on my first few listens, so it will probably grow on me like that has too.

I had the greatest dream the other night, probably brought on by pulling that all-nighter listening to Gaga while studying.

I can't even remember specific circumstances about it, but I remember it was basically about Lady Gaga as Ziggy Stardust in a stage play of all of Bowie's various personas throughout his career.

I can't decide whether it's an insane fever-dream, or the greatest thing ever.

EDIT: Listened to Ribbons, once again I gotta thank Gaga for another awesome "Gonna get my gently caress on :pervert:" song.

This is kinda neat: the guy who wrote the Esquire article on Gaga, Brendan Sullivan, has a tumblr, and he put up the story of her popping out of a cake and singing Happy Birthday Marilyn-style to his old boss. And he talks about the Lollapalooza show in the beginning. It's kinda rambly, but there are some great pictures like this one:

So I just spent a few days reading this thread and being so happy to find it. I've been drowning in idiocy on livejournal and tumblr Gaga communities, but I need to get my fix somewhere, so I'm really happy that I finally had the thought to check the SA forums.

It's been cool to see this thread go through the states of Gaga acceptance that I have had to. I went from "OMG this Gaga person is everything that is wrong with music" to paying hundreds of dollars for tickets to her show(and flying my best friend in from out of state to see it with me!). Anyway that's my intro. Can you tell I've been on LJ for way too long? :words:

Anyone else going to see her in August in PDX?

Also, here is Gaga being gorgeous in Japan.

I went from 'Who gives a poo poo about pop music' to 'The chorus of Poker Face is kinda catchy' to 'Poker Face is a good song' to 'The Fame has a number of good songs' and it was all downhill from there.

I think the Bad Romance video was what sold me overall, though. It reminded me of my Marilyn Manson days when new videos were exciting because it was treated like its own art form.

Honestly I just love Gaga because she is the shot in the arm pop music has been needing for so long. I love all types of music (mainly indie rock and stuff like that) but I have always loved pop music just because there is no point to it. It's all about having fun and not giving a gently caress. I think when it comes to the realm of pop music, Gaga is doing everything right.

This notion has lead to an interesting side-effect in my Gaga obsession -- after I'd been ignoring most of the genre for a long time, I'm pretty excited to see other pop stars step up their game. I'm especially looking forward to the videos. I think Christina's new video was Pretty To Look At, which is something, at least. I guess if one wanted to be generous, you could say that since she is recalling past pop stars in the video she is ironically showcasing how pop is just repackaged over and over again. :v:

See I thought that too about that video, but when Christina is being so adament about not copying Gaga then makes that video that has A LOT of visual simularites to Bad Romance and past things Gaga has worn, all without outright saying, "it's an homage to pop", I don't know if that's true. Christina fans say that Gaga herself has copied Christina on a few outfits so who knows. There are a few articles comparing the two I think.

I recall 90s Christina being just kind of an Also Ran that happens to be extremely popular yet a lot of her stuff was just kind of what Britney and the other pop stars were doing. I could be wrong but for all the cheesy 90s music I don't remember anything that distinctive about her.
