Instead of gently caress the police, lets think about it from a different angle. The area is experiencing a serious, widespread natural disaster where over 22 people have already died. Roads are flooded and impassible, emergency services are stressed, and response times to emergencies are lengthy or impossible as some areas may only be reachable by boat. The cop sees risky/dangerous behavior (are there sinkholes? is there underwater debris? is the roadway damaged? who knows!) and stops it to avoid potentially adding yet another emergency and calling emergency crews to a 100% preventable accident, when those crews could be doing better things. Does it look fun? yea. Does it suck that the cop stopped them? yea. Were they using good judgment with their water skiing? not even close.

The new moon rovers go for a quick spin. Check out the 6 wheel independent suspension/drive/steering. Crashes on roundabouts are a more sedate affair, though. You don't enter one at 40MPH.

I did know one girl that went through one so fast that someone entered the roundabout and hit her in the passenger door. Insurance found her to be at fault, even though she had right of way. To be fair she probably was. She was a horrible driver; at least three accidents that year. The previous year she managed to spin a Volvo at 70MPH, on a straight motorway, with her whole family in it. Oh and she almost drove my car through her front door, because I left it in first... my fault obviously.

On this one down the street from where I grew up, the highway has the right of way and the circle is elongated to facilitate blitzing through it down 34. Speed limit is 55 on that road, and I know I've gone at least 40 through it when it was empty. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...004925&t=h&z=18

Hell yes, I'm not alone. Roundabouts are awesome to try to get around as fast as possible. Even better if they are built juuuuust right and you can get some two wheel action. The best is keeping two wheels on the tarmac and the other two go sailing over the roundabout .... without ever touching it. Even better when you can do it without breaking the speed limit, as you can with some here, as they are 70 and 80 zones.

You guys need more roundabouts so you can get bored of them. And then they need to put lights on the roundabouts, because traffic light manufacturers need to eat too.
