So how expensive is Ferrari parts/service anyway?

Annual service is about £500. Major service (3 years) with belts is £1200. Clutch is about a grand plus fitting. They are expensive, but not stupidly so.

Those are independant specialist prices. Main dealer is at least double that. Looks pretty standard to me, but I'm no mechanic. Bled the clutch yesterday to no avail, the worst part is the access, it's very tight in the engine bay. Plus the value of the car is in the mileage and service history, so the amount saved doing it yourself would almost certainly be lost come resale time. You can pick a good one up for around £50k, and I don't think they will ever be much less than that, 355s have been £35-40k for a good few years now and the 360 will always be around £5-10k more.

It's not even the clutch release bearing, it's some lovely £40 part that's got a crack in it. Common fault apparantly. http://www.eurospares.co.uk/partsListing.asp?M=1&Mo=689&A=1&B=40766&S=&ID4=810227

Xeno posted:Those are independant specialist prices. Is there an insane wait list for getting your car serviced at an independent shop? The non-dealer Ferrari shops here [Los Angeles] either have 6month+ wait lists to get in and/or no new customers at all, you got to know someone to get in. The major service on some Ferrari models scare me a bit, especially ones where the engine needs to be pulled although there's a dentist down the street for me who performs the service and adjustments himself in his garage [dropping the whole rear end out]. Nope, my car broke on the Saturday, it was a Bank Holiday weekend so I called on the Tuesday morning, they came and collected immediately. I think Los Angeles has a fair few more Ferrari's than Manchester/Cheshire, depsite me living in the middle of footballer territory.

+1 for the Subies. If you guys don't mind me asking, what is the price you got them Porsches for? I know MSRP for a 997 Turbo is $132,600 but I know one guys who payed $6x,xxx, or at least I think. He just said "60" and he had a thick Italian accent so who knows. But I aspire to have one in my possession someday, and I'd like to know how many organs I have to sell. Ah Mexico Blue, I'll bet that would look good on an M3. Also Xeno does a good job of, entirely by example, explaining why I forewent an F355 for the less flashy but infinitely more reliable car. In other news, San Francisco MUNI trains are constantly breaking down with electrical problems and sometimes catch fire. One can observe the Pininfarina badge on the inside of any of them

Belldandy, I kept the car simple, I added sport seats, sport chrono, LSD, universal audio and Paint to sample. the only mod I am looking into is the Sharwerks center bypass for a better exhaust note and maybe some HRE rims.
