Wish I could've seen that Mikey Erg is a really nice guy! I saw him play at Ronny's in Chicago with The Dopamines, and he was wearing a badass Toy Dolls shirt, which I complimented him on. And then he bought me a shot of whiskey. He told me he pretty much joined that band to play at Windy City Sound Clash, and ended up loving being a part of it

Ugh, I'm probably more excited about listening to the new Sed Non Satiata album than I should be, but I still have a weak spot for the French skramz (especially SNS). Converge/Coalesce/Gaza/Black Breath/Lewd Acts tonight, gettin' pumped.

I thought Lewd Acts dropped off the tour? Which is a shame because I was expecting them to be the highlight of that show for me.

Can't believe I loving missed that tonight. I forgot about it until Friday and there was nothing I could do because I had to work. In slightly related news some dude came into my work today with an AK Press hoodie. Weird as gently caress in this town. You could've won a pair of tickets on New Noise last Wednesday too! Ridiculously good show, though, and Lewd Acts was replaced by Touche Amore, so that aspect wasn't such a letdown.

I don't usually get down with the pop punk influenced punk that a lot of people in this thread are down with but I saw Night Birds yesterday with Wasted Time and they were loving incredible. So tight and really catchy. Wasted Time was awesome as well but that goes without being said.

I don't really know if this is the thread for it, but does At the Drive In count as punk? I've seen them labeled as hardcore but they're one of my favorite bands. If they do, could anyone recommend a band out now that's similar to them? I know one of the members joined The Mars Volta..but that's more experimental/progressive. I like them but they're much less "punk" than ATDI was. Again, if they don't count then I'm sorry for thread making GBS threads

Not current at all but some of The White Octave - Style No 6312 has an ATDI feel to it. They rule.

I got obsessed with the Electric Chairs for a while and just bought the Wayne County and the Electric Chairs - Storm The Gates of Heaven lp which is pretty great, only a few songs that didn't jump out at me after a few listens. Kinda reminds me of the Tar Babies in a really good way. I've started buying all the "bad" Saints records which are still really good, despite conventional opinion. also, mandatory listening, Vilently Ill.

I'm not sure what parts of them you like, but try out some of this: The Fall Of Troy (I've never liked them, but a lot of people who like ATD-I like these guys) Drive Like Jehu (Basically classic stuff) Antigua y Barbuda (Vocalist even sounds somewhat like Cedric from ATD-I, and they're a bit chuggier) Armchairpolitician (Their full-length is pretty long but worth it) Haram (Just because I've always liked all of those CoC/pg.99 side projects) Risk Revival by Hot Cross (Their worst album IMO, but probably the easiest to digest if you're not used to the genre) Million Dead (Brits) Sparta (The dude who does some backing vocals and rhythm guitar from ATD-I is in this, try Porcelain) This is just off the top of my head, since I'm not at home, and I don't really listen to any of these groups anymore except for Hot Cross, Drive Like Jehu, Armchairpolitician occasionally, but hopefully some of it works out for you.

Yeah, I dunno why I chose to recommend Porcelain, since I used to like it and Wiretap Scars just about the same amount. Hell, Wiretap Scars is closer to ATD-I, too. It was probably just because "Breaking The Broken" is on it, and I still like that song a lot.

Urss really stole the show, Kyklooppein Sukupuuto was pretty sloppy and the singer was so drunk or high or something he just kept shaking his hands. Jonne was a demon on drums though. Duress and Daylight Robbery opened, Duress killed.
