Got a text off one of the lads. his engine had started making a slight knocking yesterday, on the way home while overtaking two cars, this happened.

managed to keep it upright and get stopped despite the oil all over his brakes, wheels, red hot headers (end of a 25 mile commute) and legs. was about a mile from his house, and his girlfriend heard the bang from their yard.

we dropped the engine on this bike a few days ago so i have some better pics of the carnage, luckily he's halfway through a streetfighter build so he has a ton of spare parts around, including an engine.
here's the bike as it was the day before the incident, was awaiting a gsxr frontend swap to make a sort of Suzuki/Honda/Suzuki sandwich

I'm still a bigger fan of performance bikes, but that's only because they spend all their time going over crazy projects and poo poo.

The yad to adopt the v-twin engine to even get attention and then started producing bikes that were nearly a carbon copy of a HD Heritage.

What's the point of keeping the front tire a motorcycle tire? May as well convert it to a car tire for more traction seeing how you won't be leaning.

You'd need a new fork. The rest of the system is installed pretty easily if I remember correctly, so having to switch out the fork would be quite a lot of extra hassle

Admittedly they had an irredeemable hard-on for Cagiva, first-generation Bloor Triumphs (it made no sense even in 1994 - Trident = top sportsbike! :aaa: ) and anything with "Ducati" on it, but the "Sports Reports" era FB was a magazine for bikers (as opposed to advertisers and marketing executives) by bikers. It was the antithesis of today's PB, which is pretty much embodied by the awful, wanky loving £200 pattern levers they tell everyone to buy. Now of course FB's owned by Future Publishing and is indistinguishable from the rest of the awfulness.

Speaking of cunning stunts, I love the Carnage vid where Frosty lands a wheelie on Schiller's bike at about 80 mph and smashes his fingers to pieces. Wonder if there's a .gif of that one?

I have to love PB because I never would have heard about Durbahn if not for them.

What, you haven't heard of Durbahn?

Click here for the full 800x531 image.[/url]

It's a CBR, you say...

Well, yes. It's stripped, all CF, home made TC driven by Motec ECUs, lighter than anything else, for dedicated trackday riding...only a 1.5ish gallon tank because that's all you need. Plus a bunch of other crazy poo poo.

Love Durbahn.

Haha, that's not my bike. I'd figured that you would have heard of Durbahn but he's basically an unknown in the states. His stuff is the ultimate in :fap:, understated and totally ballistic insane.

http://durbahn.de/ for other insanity.

If I were a dedicated trackday warrior, maybe I could afford Durbahn stuff...with racing, forget it.
