Mine came in Thursday, and I didn't have time to set it up until today, but holy poo poo, this thing is AWESOME. The MPD 18 isn't the best for playing with it, but it definitely helps. I'd be much less enthused without it. It's going to be many months before I can buy an e-drum kit for this, but it doesn't mean I don't REALLY REALLY want to.

Just put an order in for a Line 6 Spider IV 75 watt. I was thinking of the POD because it will primarily be for playing in the townhome (headphones), but I opted for the amp version for the off-chance that I want to play my iPod through it, or crank it up without headphones when drinking heavily out at the cottage.

I might do that later, but I'll probably just edit the MIDI in Reaper anyway, because I'd rather not risk the warranty thing.

$2 at a yard sale. I need some batteries...I'm 95% sure 7.5v adapters don't actually exist.

Radioshack sells some adjustable 2.5-24v voltage adapters with reversible polarity tips for ~$20... which is 10x the cost of your keyboard

There are cheaper generic universal supplies like that too: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390151978148 Or obviously he could just get a 7.5v supply http://cgi.ebay.com/Generic-JOD-41U...388181418576841 To the guy who was 95% sure... you shouldn't be 95% sure of anything you haven't googled

the wizards beard posted:7.5vac That's a typo. They list DC output further down. The only direct AC power products I know of are industrial 3-phase electric motors, lightbulbs, ovens, toasters and the like. Anything with a microchip ultimately runs on DC. A 120v->7.5v AC-AC stepdown transformer has got to be the size of a cantaloupe if they even exist.

My Linksys routers run on 12V AC. I accidentally plugged one into a Boss pedal by accident earlier. The same PSU powers a pair of speakers with an onboard amplifier. edit: And it's smaller than a pack of cigarettes, but 1.5 inches deep.

# ? Jun 1, 2010 02:03 |

Yeah, I've seen things that say they require AC, even though there's a wall wart. My Boss GT-8 and Alesis Quadraverb come to mind.
|
# ? Jun 1, 2010 02:11 |

There are a ton of pedals that take AC inputs to either rectify internally or step through an internal transformer. 120-7.5 transformer could be the size of a room or microscopic, that depends entirely on the power required.

If it takes batteries it obviously runs on DC. A lot of electronics I own have AC power adapters then have a bridge rectifier inside, so they can actually run on either AC or DC (the NES is a good example). 7.5v DC adapters are cheap and plentiful, just figure out what barrel size and polarity you need first. http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/DCTX-752/AC-DC-ADAPTER-7.5VDC-200MA/1.html http://www.mouser.com/Power/Plug-In-AC-Adapters/_/N-wp53?P=1z0y71gZ1z0wchn&FS=True

Oh yeah, thanks...but I ended up buying batteries only to discover that the thing doesn't work anyway. Maybe there's a way to salvage it or something.

I got it today. Whoa. I just spent 2 hours playing the same riff through the tape echo into a Guitar Rig Jazz Chorus model.. pretty sure I saw through time. This thing is amazing. Yeah the ModFactor and PitchFactor look awesome too. I was pretty psyched when they finally came out with the PitchFactor after years of waiting for something to do decent diatonic harmonisation that isn't an Eventide H8000/etc costing a bajillion dollars, then I kinda got over the harmoniser thing for what I wanted (hilarious Maiden leads). That said, I would really love to get one to combine with the TimeFactor and get those epic church organ type sounds you get out of the EHX POG/HOG (want those too). So much gear, so little time/money.
