Bootlegs are pretty uncommon. If the seller has good feedback then you should be fine. I've gotten my fair share of discs on ebay.

Cool. I want Adventureland and I got all excited when I saw a "On Sale!" sticker on it at Best Buy, until I got closer and saw that it's "on sale" for the price of $26.99. I'm hoping I can find it a lot cheaper on ebay or elsewhere online.

Yeah, Adventureland almost never drops in price. It's also on sale at Target this week......for $24.99. 3rd party sellers on Amazon are selling like-new copies for under $12 though.

Getting the region free hardware mod for my BDP-83 was the best BD-related decision I ever made. PAL extras, 1080i50 movies, region B locked titles, etc. - all perfectly enjoyable. It also opened me up to the world of DVD importing that I previously had ignored. Hello Japanese 6-disc theatrical Grindhouse, and hello banned-in-the-US Enzo Castellari Jaws-ripoff 'Great White.'

Yeah, Disney discs seem to never go down in price for some reason. I'm still looking around for some super old ones like Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. I just refuse to spend $24 on such an old, relatively poor quality disc.

Stagecoach was in very bad condition, so I at least understand why someone with no real film restoration knowledge would complain. But The Third Man? I don't remember that one having any real damage - all I remember is a gorgeous B&W picture. The guy has no idea what he's talking about.

I've heard the negative is gone for The Third Man - not surprising considering it was popular, had "split custody" ownership, and was shot on nitrate. But as shown in the first edition DVD's restoration comparison, even the unrestored image looked great. The usual dirt and scratches, with a tears.

Seriously, film grain looks beautiful on a big screen. It's like the image is alive and lithographed onto silver.

That is one of the reason I'm so glad I decided to go the HTPC route rather than a standalone or PS3. The sky is the limit and things can always been upgraded or added or streamed to other places in my house.

I fell out of importing though once some titles I never thought would hit American shores any time soon did (9 Songs, The Seventh Seal, Black Narcissus)

I'm kinda curious why some of these BD never drop in price at best buy. I'm sure they don't have much say in it but it seems like some BD are always very close to the starting price even after a few years of being out.

For example Sin City is one that best buy is still selling for 29.99, but it seems like that movie has been out on Bluray for a long time now, right? However you can get fight club 10th anniversary at best buy right now for 15.99. I know that Sin City came out six years after FC, but wasn't SC on bluray first?

I love the pricing on Amazon but it's only worth it to me if I'm picking up between 7-10 at a time.

I didn't see it listed on the weekly ad, so I'll have to stop by and look for it. I did however see they had Armageddon on sale this week for 12.99.

If you didn't say anything I probably wouldn't have even checked best buy this week and missed the price drop yet again.

Thanks

Edit: I also never saw Hot Tub Time Machine... Good Bluray buy or was it a stupid movie?

Oh God, could that box be more generic and misrepresentative of the movie itself? Also, why is every loving comedy nowadays comparing itself to The Hangover? It was funny as hell, sure, but how long is it going to be gold standard of comedy?

I saw it on a whim because I was bored one day and figured a mediocre comedy would kill some time. It delivered on being both mediocre and killing time.

Now you're telling me it made THAT much money? Jesus Christ!

And bravo to the makers of that cover art. You managed to take a comedy with a budget and semi-name actors and make it look like one of those super-duper cheap piece of poo poo American Pie knock-offs. :golfclap:

Proof that word-of-mouth and strong reviews can still affect the public's willingness to shell out $10 for a movie than a trailer ever will.

So many questions...

Why does Rob Corrdry look super-stoked to have just had the crap kicked out of him?
Why is Clark Duke doing a little Napoleon tucking-the-hand-into-the-jacket pose?
Why isn't there anything related to hot tubs, time machines, or hot tub time machines anywhere on the cover?
Why does it look like there's smoke coming from behind the giant torso chick's rear end?

These are all things that apparently take precedent over a movie that's about a hot tub that is also a time machine.

Do you find something comical about my appearance when I'm driving my automobile?
I found Pierre La Fou from Criterion a few months back, so I purchased it because I figured I'll get my money back if it's bad and it's an important film so I should see it.

Honestly, it's one of the few films that I had to turn off in the middle. It was horrendous! It was just so boring, it had no plot, it had nothing that made me want to watch the movie, it's just cinematic masturbation! And everything I know about the making of the film just shows that it had no potential for being good.

So I'm just wondering if anybody has anything to say to me that could help me possibly enjoy this film, or should I just hang onto it until it's worth a little more than 40 and sell it?
