Article that goes into some depth about the Mini - Porsche challenge. Of particular note is this:quote:So why would Porsche hesitate? Well, a bunch of reasons. First, Mini laid out the course, which doesn’t cover all of Road Atlanta but is an autocross track with lots of tight turns and few straightaways to pick up speed. "Porsche, come race us at Road Atlanta...'s parking lot..." http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/jun/12/minisbrifs/

Hypnolobster posted:Show queens with on-purpose surge to sound cool. It's actually blower surge. This is caused by the supercharger's vacuum signal to the power valve not being the actual engine vacuum, but the vacuum created by the supercharger. The power valve reads the higher vacuum created by the supercharger, this vacuum closes the power valve, causing the fuel mixture to go lean, the engine then slows down due to the lean air/fuel mixture, so the vacuum signal from the supercharger causes the power valve to open as the supercharger's vacuum drops, so again the engine speeds up due to the richer air/fuel mixture, rolling from rich to lean, causing the engine to speed up and then slow down. Basically, they don't know how to setup a boost reference/tune a carb. The cam has nothing to do with it.

Mini S Works: 211hp, 1235KG, 5.85 Power to weight. Hyundai Genesis-Coupe I4: 210hp, 1494KG, 7.11 Power to weight. Hyundai Genesis-Coupe V6: 306hp, 1537 KG, 5.02 Power to weight. You know what, that would be an intresting race.
