Hi guys! For anyone following my saga after of more than a year and a half of trying we have this: I'm not sure what worked--this month was my first off of clomid in 5 cycles, I have been spending a ton of money in weekly accupuncture appts for the last 2 cycles and I caved and finally had a consult with a fertility specialist 2 weeks ago. We were waiting on my next period for testing...so for fathers day I was able to tell my husband that he would be a daddy again and the ETA is his birthday. It still seems so surreal. So, see you guys in the pregnancy thread:)

Congrats! We have officially gotten the ball rolling on trying for babby number two this month. I have to go through an estrogen cycle first, so we're looking at a time frame of hopefully conceiving at the end of July at earliest.

Has anyone ever done a cycle of Estrace before they went ahead with fertility treatments before? This is the third time I've done this, but for whatever reason I'm getting hit with a lot of side effects this time and it's really annoying. I'm nauseated and so bloated that I don't want to ever wear pants again. I feel like I'm in the first trimester, but I'm not even pregnant yet.

Hey folks, guess what! I tested it 3 times, I couldn't believe my eyes because we took a break and stopped trying so hard last month. And we got this We're ecstatic but also really nervous because it's still so early and anything could go wrong. I keep thinking back on all the coffee I've been drinking or unhealthy food I ate and it's hard not to freak out! I haven't got any syndrome besides some mild period like cramping and general tiredness...but I'm only a few weeks along if I calculate right. When would be the right time to see your OB when you find out anyway?

Congrats Noirex!! Don't worry about the coffee and stuff you've had; pretty much everyone cuts the stuff out that they're worried about once they find out, and it works out fine. I saw my OB for the first time when I was approx 8 weeks pregnant (6 weeks post conception). I had tested the week prior and discovered I was actually pregnant, after a false negative. That early on, you probably won't see much if they have you do an ultrasound (I had a dating ultrasound because I didn't have a last missed period, even though I knew exactly when I conceived), but by about 12 weeks pregnant, or 10 weeks post conception, you should be able to see and possibly hear the heartbeat on the ultrasound!

Hooray! Congrats! And don't worry about coffee or anything like that. It takes more than coffee to make something go wrong. I think it really depends on your doctor when they want you in for your first check-up. Mine said to wait until 10-12 weeks.

Thank you all! I'm still trying to sort out my insurance so I'll probably only see a doctor in another week's time. I will try not to worry too much about everything in the meantime, which is really hard to do considering I'm such a tremendous worrywart. Thanks for all the advice and reassurances, I don't know how I could have kept sane without this awesome thread and it's posters. Good luck to everyone trying, please keep your chin up! Have y'all seen this series of commercials with the theme "Birds and bees can't always make babies" at http://increaseyourchances.org/? I'm kind of in love with them, perhaps more so because they're sort of a goony looking couple. I think they do a good job of getting a public dialogue going, even if they're fertility specialist oriented, they're cute and portray frustration without being depressing or judgmental.

Cross postin' here and the Pregnancy thread... I got a positive test this afternoon. I thought I was out for the month when I started having brown spotting yesterday, but it stopped after a few hours, and my temperature was still super high this morning, so I bought a digital. It says 2-3 weeks since conception. Oh my! The doctor at the loss clinic gave me a requisition for hcg and thyroid blood tests to be done as soon as I got a positive, so I'll be heading to the hospital tomorrow morning, and I've already sent a message to the clinic to see what I need to do next. This is my fifth pregnancy, guys, I'm so... I don't even know what the right word is. Terrified? Here we go again, AGAIN.

My girlfriend and I started having sex a week ago. Today she tells me that yesterday her left breast started to hurt, feels slightly swollen and has a purplish streak on it. We used condoms, we were fairly sure nothing got out. she is in the least fertile part of her cycle. so her period wont be for three more weeks or so. should we be worried?

Good luck, longpig! I'll be thinking of you too. So a couple of weeks ago I finally had a period, and started charting--as an aside, to anyone else who's hesitant about buying Taking Charge of Your Fertility, like I was, go for it! I was using an old digital thermometer I found in our bathroom cabinet and deemed it "Probably good enough for now." Since all my waking temps for the last couple of weeks have been around the same, I figured I was okay, but the last couple of days I've been getting weird readings. Today I woke up and the thermometer read 96.5. Since that seemed absurdly low, even for me, I grabbed a digital thermometer my husband's using for some medical study (it's brand-new and nice) and it read 97.7, not even 30 seconds after I took my temp with the first thermometer. So I'm thinking the first old thermometer's batteries are dying, or something, but what should I do about charting? Should I just ignore today's temp and pick up charting again tomorrow with the new thermometer? I probably might not think of it as a big deal, except over the weekend I had lower right abdominal pain and yesterday I had midcycle spotting, which clued me in that I might actually be ovulating. I was hoping a thermal shift might confirm it, but now I'm not sure what to do about my thermometers.

I had really confusing temperature readings, with peaks often, so I relied heavily on cervical mucous and ovulation strips to figure out when I was ovulating.

All right, I guess I'll just keep an eye out for other signs. I had bought 50 or so cheap ovulation strips, but since I went a few months without a period, I used them all up during that time trying to figure out if I'd ovulated or not. And my cervical mucous still hasn't gotten back to "slippery" at any point since I had the Mirena taken out, which is why I was sort of hoping that temperature charting would help me know when (if) I ovulated this cycle. Oh well, I guess since my possible-secondary-ovulating-signs have passed, I'll wait out the rest of this cycle and hope that it's not another 3 months before my next period again! I swear I've never wished to get my period so badly before than in these last few months .

A week past conception is really, really, really early to have pregnancy symptoms; in fact, for most women they don't really kick in until 6-8 weeks pregnant. But by all means, take a test if she misses her period.

I think with pregnancy it would be BOTH breasts. She should go to the doctor in case she has boob cancer or something. It's most likely the two of you are just freaking out over nothing because you think sex automatically equals pregnancy.

Breasts can become tender during periods and probably during ovulation, as well.
