So what should the DRZ's be selling for? Most of the ones I see on CL are like the miata's I see 2005's to 2009's all selling for the same price. 5 grand There have been a couple of husabergs and husky's showing up for 5 and under(the husa was 4200). I think the DRZ crowd is kinda nuts around here to be asking for prices like that but are the euro's maintenance monsters? Most of them are the 510's.

Husabergs are freaking awesome, but yes, maintenance is more prevalent. A husky 510 is not a street bike. It's street legal, but that's not really the same thing. 1.3 gallon gas tank, no key, etc... it's a race bike. Husaberg did make a more streetable Enduro/SM bike... the 5 something? I'm not terribly familiar with their bikes. Husky's street bikes start with the 6 series really, 610 and the new 630 are meant for the street. KTM, same deal, 6 series. 5 if your a bit mad.

The Super Duke is mainly just loving bananas and bears very little resemblance to the others. I would seriously consider murder in order to acquire a Super Duke.

Slightly less insane but more day to day friendly while giving you almost all the benifits of a full SM. Think pf a superduke as one of the most badass and fun streetbikes money can buy. An everyday bike. This is what i was going to buy until i found a deal on a Street Fighter i couldnt pass up.

Youd be right. I use the term megamoto. Too heavy to be a real SM but the same idea. They dont ride quite like traditional standards, being very upright and aggressive handling, but they arent real supermotos either. You get ground clearance but the weight and 115 HP means tight sm tracks are not your home, but give them some backroads and theyll show their worth. Again, very everyday-able. The SMT is a touring kit megamoto.

I was having the same conundrum about the Duke line. Right now I'm heavily leaning towards the Duke 690 SM, but there are a couple of super dukes available on CL in my area right now as well. Decisions, decisions.

I doubt the bike will ever see dirt but it would see rugged terrain here and there and the occasional high speed off a curb or speed bump and other super moto sillyness. Definitely go for that last one. I'm very tempted to sell my Grand National to get a motard. I really like the Duke IIs but I can't stand that grey color. The green is merely ok. I'd really like one in white although that's not a factory color. Also I can't stand the stock cast wheels especially in silver. 625 SMCs for some reason seem hold their value a lot higher and people are even asking for more than some of the cheaper 690s which confuses me.

As the owner of a Duke II, I much prefer the styling of the Duke line to that of the supermotos. But out of those linked, I'd have to go with the last one, just for the refinement of the 690 LC4 over the 640. If you're still thinking about it, I would seriously recommend a test ride on a Duke II up to freeway speeds to see if it's the bike for you. If you're cool with that experience, the bike's a lot of fun. That first one has about every good mod you can do to the bike.

Has extended warranty to 2012, Leo veo exhaust or whatever, remapped ecu for exhaust, and k&n filter. Its a lot farther away but he said he'd meet half way and take 5.3 instead of 5,750 so I think I'll go with that

Get the stock exhaust along with it if he has it. My 690 SMC came with a Leo Vince exhaust, and a 'remapped' stock ecu. It was noticeably down on power until I put the stock exhaust on. Unless it has a power commander or tuneboy the Leo Vince exhaust will cost you power. Other than that, go for it. I like my SM because it's so easy to work on   Managed to gently caress up one of the oil drain plugs, and no matter what I did I could not get that fucker out. It was leaking oil all over the place so I couldn't leave it, and since there's three of them I figured what the hell, why not just JB Weld it!  About 150/200 miles later and not a drop! I'll probably start changing the oil a bit more often, but that's just fun really.

So can someone explain to me the art of turning on a sumo as best you can. Coming from a sport bike I'm used to leaning. I was watching my friend and trying different things. It seems you can just push down on the handlebars while staying relatively upright. Then actually leaning which didn't seem to comfortable. Then lastly on the tighter hairpin turns sticking a foot out and pushing the bars down? Up to what sped would I want a foot out. Or is it all just case by case. I saw one of the sumo schools are nearby I think I'll definenlty do one. That all being said I absolutely love mine.

Brake HARD, Transfer a bunch of weight onto the front wheel and lighten the rear, planting the appropriate knee into position hard up on the tank. Grab the clutch and dump it down 3 gears. Weight pegs, tip it in. Rev match, release clutch hard, let go of brakes slowly as it tips in. Apply a bunch of throttle. Power wheely out of turn to stand bike back up. There's nothing particularly different about getting a sumo turn than a sport bike. Its just that due to the more aggressive geom and lighter weight it can turn in so so much easier. You can weight the front wheel more than on a sporty but its not essential to the successful turn in of the bike. There is counter-leaning (and foot-out, foot in) but that's another subject, so really do the same as the sporty,(turn the bars, weight pegs, shift bodyweight), just don't yank it hard and land face down on the pavement. Leaning shouldn't feel uncomfortable or anything.

Keeping your body more upright and pushing the SM underneath you is also a viable way to maneuver in very tight corners or tight switchbacks. Foot out vs knee out? Basic rule of thumb for most people (but its a completely subjective thing) is long sweepers get the knee, tight corners get the foot out, medium corners you basically just pretty much stay up with the bike, little bit of weight transferred to the inside. You'll start putting your foot out on corners where you constantly drag your peg or hit your boot on the ground. That's where I go foot out, anywhere I'm otherwise likely to bury my foot into the ground.
