I've been listening to the stream every weekday ever since I started working from home back at the end of April. I hadn't listened to Loveline in around 5 years, and the show is just as awesome as I remember it. Drew and Adam were such a great combo. Does the current show stream online anywhere? Is it worth listening to?

The ones with Dr. Bruce are always so good. Does anyone remember the episode where Adam was talking about Bruce confiscating a hookah from his daughter-in-law and giving it to Adam? I think that's what happened. It might be the same episode where Adam complains about having to co-sign for Bruce's crazy lazer. Also I know I heard it once but what's the episode where the famous, "Where's Dr. Drew?" comes from? And one last question, is the episode where DAG actually throws up uploaded anywhere? I've never been able to find it. It's frustrating too because I remember listening to it live when it happened in high school, but no luck finding it now!

I just listened to the 9-11-09 podcast with Dr. Drew today on a whim and holy poo poo is Dr. Drew getting ENRAGED by his kid's school having to transport the students to San Diego for a football game loving hilarious. I don't think I've ever heard him basically going into Adam rant mode and screaming into the mic before, and I've listened to a few hundred Loveline episodes over the years. Are there any other clips of Drew being this crazily mad out there?

If you follow Loveline on facebook, they have a nightly chatroom setup for people. It's atrocious. I mean, maybe I just tried it once on an off-night, but it really has zero redeeming qualities at all. As far as current Loveline, I think we can all safely agree that 1) The Carolla years were the best, and 2) The Stryker years were some of the worst. Psycho Mike isn't great, but he really isn't as bad as everyone's making him out to be. Drew is still Drew, Anderson is still Anderson (though it seems by comparison, he does more talking and less dropping), and the callers are still the same bunch of retard screwballs. If nothing else, that last bit still makes the show worthwhile. You can ALWAYS listen to Loveline and hear the dumbest kids from Bakersfield and asking "...is that normal?" Really, while Drew still has a sense of professionalism, he has a tendancy to dig into his callers a bit more nowadays, which is nice.

Mike isn't bad, but I have two major problems with him. Mostly I'm sick of his characters. I don't listen much, but I swear every time I listen for more than 30 minutes he goes in to one of his characters. Rudy was kind of funny the first few times but it's gotten REALLY old, Gene Simmons hasn't been funny yet, and Manny Ramirez is just annoying. I'm sure I missed a few. My other problem is he can be really juvenile about stuff, kind of over the top, like you would expect a douchebag dj named Psycho Mike to be. Some girl will mention her boobs or such and he'll go into douche mode and milk it until you're sick of it. Sort of the type of guy Adam used to make fun of with his Ace Rock-ola persona. You know it's bad when Anderson breaks in to say a call is getting old or to move the show along and he sounds like the voice of reason. It's not all the time, but it's often enough to be obnoxious. Compound all that with the fact that he can't touch Adam for wit or improvisational comedy, and it's disappointing to listen to modern loveline compared to the Carolla years. Still light years better than Stryker though, and yes the callers are as great as ever.

Alright, I listened to the show from last night and have come away with 2 thoughts. 1) The call they posted the picture of wasn't taken. Most likely a fake that they picked up on and ignored. Fair enough. 2) As previously mentioned, I was pretty ambivalent towards Mike. And then I heard him blatantly rip off a few of Carolla's things. Not just 'a little', but very noticeable. At least my original thoughts on him were that he was coming up with his own material, whether people liked it or not. Now he's just butchering funny bits, and doing it badly. Ugh.

Majorian posted:Explain why you feel this way. Hey sorry I didn't reply earlier, I forgot about this thread after I blew off the best-of today...He just never has anything funny to say. The guy's obviously smart, and I'm not gonna hold the way he talks against him, but half the time he's chiming in riding the coattails of a rant of Adam's. For example: I think it was this week when Adam was going on about someone "drawing first blood," to the point of doing an impression of the dude from the movie, and Bryan says "like in Rambo." Which just hung a light on the reference and killed it, in addition to being being 2 beats late like most of his observations. Or frequently he'll just name another example of something Adam is ranting about. Honestly, if you're having a conversation and think you've made a clever joke, when someone explains it by hijacking it to make their own lame attempt at one, it sucks. Honestly, the drops are an extension of this: Adam mentions his mother............."why would you ask me that?!"(or whatever that byte is). These have gotten better, though. To me, if the joke is so obvious that it is implied, it should remain unsaid. A couple days into the new format when he was still doing way too many drops it was real obvious that Theresa and Adam were annoyed but didn't say anything when the drops would frequently cut them off or just carry on too long. Maybe it's because I never heard him on the old show before he was sick, but he just never has an observation of his own or anything to really bring to the party.

"Oh, sorry I was about to go on a 10 minute rant about Armenians" is directly related to the episode where Adam first sang his 'NO CANNOT HAVE' song (I think it was 3-23-01 but I'll have to look it up) Then at the end of the episode, Anderson played Girls Girls Girls as Mike went into a full mumbly fast-paced diatribe about being a fat guy with a ponytail (candy on stage five) for a few minutes. Horrible. And those were the only 2 that I actually heard. Who knows how many he's done on other nights.
