that makes more sense, from the other angle it looked like half the tire had full tread and the other was totally worn. I was wondering how the heck a tire would get like that!

Some tracks heavily favor left/right corners and you end up killing half a tire, then end up flipping it and running it backwards.

Had a motardtastic day. Went for a leisurely cruise with a friend that turned into a lot more. Went through some canyons, highway 74, trails, got lost more than once, and went to areas that I've never explored in the 24 years I've been here. It was awesome. I also got a full upper body workout, too. I had street tires on my bike which was probably a terrible idea because some of it was really rocky/dirt/gravel. But we were just exploring and sort of ended up on these trails. I did have a low speed drop while I was making a tight hairpin turn. I'm real bummed about it but the bike seems fine aside from some scratches here and there. Nothing on the fairings. But hey, that's what Super Motos are for...right? Also apparently the bracket for my right exhaust pipe got lose and was is forever lost. Emailed leo vince about a replacement.

Lane splitting, dips in the road, and pot holes are that much more fun on a super moto.

I road his bike a bit and it's a lot more mushy (in a good way), lower, and feels more ready for the dirt. He obviously had some tires more off-road orientated but I think I'd almost prefer his in the dirt. I know they're the same model but is mine more geared towards the street.

lovely cell phone pictures ahead.

One is not like the other. Just a really popular local biker bar in the canyon around here. I don't think we fit in.

Don't worry about the plastics getting scratched, go online and look at how much replacements cost. A full set of plastics for the 690 SMC costs $212. That's for all 5 pieces.

The plastics are fine surprisingly. It's just the rear view mirror on the right (which was already broken) won't stay still now, some scratches on the passenger pegs, exhaust, and handlebars. That's it really.

I mostly just post in the vintage bike thread about it. Since I sporadically work on it. I moved from Indiana to Texas recently, so it kind of sat for about 6 months while I got settled.

My girlfriend and quite our 9-5's and moved from NYC to the middle of nowhere in PA next to a giant parking lot to practice/ride full time as well as work on some personal projects, the main one being StuntBums.

Here is an excerpt from the press release I've still failed to send out that gives a brief summary:
"StuntBums.com is a online platform meant to bring stunting to the people. To educate the general public, bring fans closer to the sport, make it easier for riders to get into the sport and help current freestyle riders stay in touch and on top of their game."

Here are some of my favorite videos:

I think that stunting is pretty cool...definitely a lot different from the canyon carving and track days that most of us are used to. How come you dudes never wear gear though? I mean, I see a couple jackets and some external armor (and a pair of dirtbike gloves?) but it seems like you'd still get rashed up pretty easily or have a significant chance of snapping an ankle, shattering a heel, etc.

Honestly, I don't know why a lot of people don't still. I really love my setup, Dainese knee pads/elbow pads/back protector/compression shorts.

I didn't wear gear when I was doing only wheelies, as I normally had minor wrecks that gave me little amounts of rash/bruises. However, once I started doing endos and acros I started wearing it all the time as I knew I was talking about serious injuries with those tricks. I've went down twice now at about ~40mph doing endos, I'm so thankful I had "full" gear on both time. Looking back I feel dumb, as I went home so many days with sore shins, elbows, etc. that could have been so easily avoided :bang:

I'd imagine most of the gear makes it really difficult to move around the bike the way they do.

I could see even a heavily ventilated textile jacket or perfed leather being very uncomfortable at the almost-stopped speeds they're doing, but I would think at least some strapped-on dirtbike armor or something would be good. At those speeds, you're not likely to do a huge amount of sliding I would think, just a lot of impacts.
