Volcasarus ReX posted:All of the stuff on the disk sounds great but I kinda hope they go the Dark Knight route and have a awesome collectors edition with special casing. I don't recall them doing that for the first one. Target had an exclusive "head case" thing, a plastic Iron Man helmet that opened up with the discs inside. Then they did that for like every superhero movie afterward. Surely they'll have something similar for this.

I'm hoping for something a bit less trashy and nice.

I'm ashamed to ask, but does anyone know when the Elm Street remake is supposed to be released? It came out over two months ago, and I haven't heard a word. I'm only curious in a car crash kind of way.

Any news on Get carter getting a BR release? With the amount of lovely older movies getting released I dont see why this hasnt been released yet. Also I'm thinking of getting Inferno on BR since I really like suspiria, how do they compare? Thinking quality of the movie here, not the BR disk.

Suspiria is region locked but the transfer is pretty bad. Inferno comes out August 2 so the region coding is unknown, but the distributor is Arrow and most of their releases are region free.

Oh yeah, I forgot there's also a UK release of Suspiria. Not sure about the pq there but it appears to also be region locked.

Nothing that I know of, but we'll surely see something if/when the next movie kicks into gear. The Alien Anthology is coming to the US October 26 and will contain approximately 60 hours of bonus features. Full details here. e: Holy poo poo, Grindhouse is actually happening on October 5. Lock in your pre-orders because this price won't last. http://www.amazon.com/Grindhouse-Special-Blu-ray-Danny-Trejo/dp/B003VMFWYI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1279204973&sr=1-5 doctor thodt fucked around with this message at 15:43 on Jul 15, 2010 |

As someone who owns multiple DVD editions of the Alien series, I'll be buying that stupid egg edition. I have the old DVDs, the first anthology that's about six feet long, the ultimate collection that includes all the Alien and Predator movies housed under a rock with action figures on top. Not having the egg would make my collection incomplete. Hope it's not super expensive.

I asked today in a rather large media shop in Europe (Fnac in Ghent, Belgium) for a blue-ray release date for Visconti's Gatopardo (seeing it released for some time in the States and Brittan), and the shop-assistant just looked at me as if had some highly infectious contagious disease (such an old movie in blue-ray?). It's telling for the uptake of the format. Even the mainstream movies in blue-ray format don't seem to be doing so good (of which they carry a rather large selection). Get of your asses people in Europe! Its becoming frustrating to not be able to buy my beloved more artistic movies in a higher resolution format over here. Normally I wouldn't mind so much shopping oversees via Amazon etc., but for many films I'd rather have good subtitled translations.(/rambling). edit; to hell with it. I'm just going to order on-line internationally until things become better available (and cheaper) in mainland Europe. (and improve my reading comprehension of English along the way.) Thrown in a FFD recommendation that's been interesting me for a while as well. the wobble fucked around with this message at 00:12 on Jul 23, 2010 |

Good point of course, but I even showed the DVD-release from their own collection, and mentioned it was by Visconti. It was a rather rhetorical question even so, judging by the more mainstream contemporary movies on display. It really is a problem. Wonder if its the same in Brussels or Paris or something. edit; honestly the only company putting some effort in seems to be http://studiocanalcollection.com/en/collection Very good releases of course, but far too few. I don't notice any others in shops, and most of the time not even these. the wobble fucked around with this message at 01:05 on Jul 16, 2010 |
