Trust me, you really, really do not want to miss this. I shall hopefully be putting in a big chunk of our system with a few other companies for a seriously monster rig. Huge tune! A lot of the pre-"Tudor Rose" releases by Capone/Dillinja on Hard Leaders are incredible: "Paradise", "Fusion" and "2 Da 1" being my favorites alongside "Friday".

Also, Calibre's "Fire & Water" on Soul:R, similar bass sound & feel to "Friday", always loved that one:

Nah, I run a sound hire company up in Manchester and have the same kit that was used for the RBMA thing. That gig was done by good friends in the Dirt Soundsystem, and they're basically bringing as many of the same cabinets together as they can for some serious silliness for Hospitality. It's not finalised yet but looking very, very promising.

I suggest you find a good set of earplugs!

The original is DnB, but the 16bit remix is most certainly dubstep.

I haven't seen enough smooth liquid dnb up in this piece. Time to change that.

Peyo & Grimm - One for Me

Also, it's the middle of summer, has anyone seen any good shows? Any good shows upcoming?

I'll be at Underground Sound 6 in less than 2 weeks, with Evol Intent doing a live set. While I'm stoked to hear some awesome EI tracks done live over a massive soundsystem, I can't help but feel a little let down. Booking EI or any of the PotD crew seems like such a copout given how easily bookable they are. I would have preferred many other US-based dnb acts like Random Movement, Gridlok, Sinistarr, or Hybris. Oh well, I shouldn't complain about getting to see EI. :(

Hive just played in DC last weekend, but I didn't go, finding it harder & harder to get motivated to go out to hear a set that starts at 2:30AM. And TC played the same night, up in Baltimore. Seba is playing in town this weekend. Anything else in town I'm probably out of the loop on, stopped reading the local event forum.

Yeah, I went to Dubnation this past Friday night to listen to TC spin, after a friend of mine invited me to go. Though I hadn't listened to TOO much D&B before this show, I've been on a major kick since then. From an outsider's perspective, the show was insane, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one in the DC/Baltimore area. Plus it was $2 drink night, so that only made it exponentially better.

Although admittedly, I don't make it out to many shows nowadays. DC & Baltimore have been very lucky for the past, oh, 15 years when it comes to drum'n'bass though, usually a promoter or two that books some interesting talent.

The Steez Promo guys that do the DubNation parties are definitely ones to watch, they put together some great events. Their next one is the Summer Massive on August 28th, they have LTJ Bukem as their drum'n'bass headliner, rare area appearance for him. Won't be as banging a set as TC's, but LTJ's style brings out a lot of people, and can be a lot of fun.

So i'm totally new to Drum n Bass as a genre. I discovered Pendulum a few weeks ago and loved them, as i look for bands that cross Rock and electronic music a lot.

The thing is that I really like some songs I hear, and at the same time, can't stand some of them. Right now the only bands I actively listen to are Pendulum (except Hold Your Color. Need to give that one a second try.) and The Qemists. I guess i'm kind of a fan of the rock/drum n bass fusion.

I figured I would hit this thread up and see if there were any other bands that mixed the 2 genres very well. Some awesome stuff posted in this thread here and there though already. Thanks!

Aww, a DnB babby, awesome :)

Seriously though, if you want to get into DnB, my strongest recommendation is definitely Hold Your Colour. It's the album that a lot of people cut their teeth on (me included.) It sounds nothing like In Silico or Immersion, though.

If you like the rock/dnb fusion, you'd be best off listening to some tracks which are either collaborations or remixes. Stuff like Lost Weekend by The Qemists, although having said you listen to them you'd know that already.

There's a hell of a lot of different genres of DnB (Rageaholic Monkey posted an in-depth in the OP) so just go through it and pick out what you like. You won't like everything. Liquid is really easy to get into, as is Jump Up.
