Suffice it to say, I hope Megaman Universe is just that last part... levels designed with puzzles in mind and other fun hooks.

He's been making it for over two years and both Inafune and Capcom are pretty cool with all the Megaman fanstuff.

I was randomly thinking of that Megaman 2.5D video the other day, and then thought of what would be a good way to make a 2-player Megaman game. Somehow I came upon the idea that you could remake levels from the original games, except with whatever characters are present at that point in the Megaman "timeline". Like in MM1 you could have Roll as the second player, and make her character faster and able to jump higher, but with shorter range attacks. That way you could have parts of the levels where each player has to do something only they can do, and the boss powers manifest differently as well. It probably sounds like a mess as I described it but it sounded cool in my head.

Is there news that Mega Man 2.5D is actually being made as a game? The last I had seen about it was that the guy did it as an animated concept, not that it was actually being made. http://petersjostrand.com/mm25d.html

I don't think so, just that someone new discovers it every few months and then we all get in a tizzy for a bit until we realize nothing is still going on for it.

Well, that's a bit disturbing. Saw this on Pixiv, and it made me wonder how much "dark" Megaman art there is out there. Or at least, well-done art. That's not Rockman Neo. Also on Pixiv, this guy has TONS of pixel art(not sprites) of a good portion of pretty much every Megaman boss/character ever in 400x400 images. And it's all really, really good, almost looks official.

Captain Invictus posted:Rockman Neo. Haha holy poo poo, that's a name I haven't heard in a while. I wonder what went Dick Dickman's head when he was coming up with it (in between bouts of furiously masturbating to furry porn he drew). "I know! I'll make all the Megaman characters stick figures with armor! And then I'll make it GRIMDARK! Yeah! And then I'm gonna get pissed off at my fans and pretend it's a totally new concept called 'Perfect Neo'!" Also, anyone see Andrew Dickman's "new" ideas? It's like he takes whatever videogame or anime he's watching at the moment, draws the characters in a slightly different style, and then claims it for himself and then he yells at anyone who points out his blatant plagiarism. The last thing I heard about him was that he was working on that Loonatics show about Grimdark anime Loony Toons characters, which is right up his goddamned alley. EDIT: I forgot about what I was originally going to post about! Anyone here bothered by Megaman Zero's (and beyond) bosses? They look too much like mechaniloids to feel like the classic Mavericks and Robot Masters. They're pretty generic, I think. Screaming Idiot fucked around with this message at 11:04 on Aug 12, 2010 |

AWD! leveraged his massive Deviant Art fanbase to win second place in the Mega Man 9 fanart contest held at Capcom-Unity. Docahedron, however, beat him out for first without having such a fanbase. The tantrums that contest generated were the stuff of lunatic asylums. I didn't know that guy made Rockman Neo. That explains why his art is so... I don't know how to put this, rough-edged most of the time.

That man hasn't gad a unique idea in all his time as an artist, and any skill he has is utterly wasted on the generic pap he churns out day after day. If you are a fan of Dicky Dickman, then you are either a a furry, a repressed furry, or an anime human being of the highest order. In fact, Dickman and his ilk are the very things that drove me away from the Megaman fandom way back in the day. It wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't such a sensitive little oval office in response to his work -- I remarked how one of his later creations looked like something a friend of mine had drawn nearly a year prior and he instantly became a huge about it. "Well maybe your friend should stop copying me and become a real artist hurrf hurrf." He makes me angry. Angry about stuck-up mediocre flash-in-the-pan pseudoartists!

Didn't that one get popular due to essentially churning out softcore Mega Man porn? You cannot imagine the Docahedron and I had to resist showing when we utterly obliterated Dickman in that MM9 contest. It was driven by public vote, even. All that for a sketch from Inafune plus two sets of the MM and X Complete Works (one of which we gave away to one of the more humble aspiring MM fanartists, this one: http://notanotherzerofan.deviantart.com/), but the drama was worth it. Dammit, why did I look up Sub-Tank's art. gently caress you, Morbid Curiosity, you're the same sunnuvabitch that made me look up Lemon Party and Goatse! Also, speaking of Dickman, I found one of his early Rockman Neo sketches. It actually looks pretty good compared to his later work, lots of emotion in the lines and a heavy emphasis on its Megaman origins. Click here for the full 776x649 image.

Pureauthor posted:You mean they look mechanical? But so do a lot of MMX bosses and some MMClassic bosses. I suppose the problem is that they're not anthropomorphic for the most part. If anything, they looks too mechanical. While I'm glad they've gone away from the "guy in a silly costume" route of the Robot Masters and the "robot furry" look of the Mavericks, I'd rather that the bosses look less abstract. Of course abstract is better than the "tweens in thongs" look of the main characters, but that ain't the point. Screaming Idiot fucked around with this message at 13:06 on Aug 12, 2010 |

It has some awesome music, especially the opening stage of Megaman Zero 4. Oh, Esperanto~ EDIT: gently caress the 4 Guardians, though. Harpuia, Phantom, Leviathan, and Fefnir can all ride a wheelbarrow of dicks straight to hell, those guys were annoying and I sure as gently caress don't want to play as them. t

Aesthetics aside, I think the Mega Man Zero series had the best overall mechanics of the entire platformer line. The stage designs (except for MMZ1) and the boss fights were all extremely fun and interesting.

Each 2d series' mechanics is more-or-less equal to me, although the Metroidvania approach to MMZ1 was intriguing, if poorly implemented. The first Megaman ZX dropped the ball on it though with its incredibly lovely "mapping" system. EDIT: Megaman 9 and 10 sucked, though. LET ME CHARGE AND SLIDE, DAMMIT. Well, if the colorscheme and the fact that he takes to much damage ( you shouldn't take damage in a megaman game anyway ) is a problem for you, yes then "it sucks". Megaman 9 and 10 sucks because it gives you different ways to play the game.

I'm trying to remember a Mega Man 4 romhack. When I last saw it the only part that had been completed was Pharoahman's stage, and it concluded with a drawn out fight that continued over several screens, with Pharoahman actually changing thr terrain during battle.
