No, he wants the wave of NYCHC after 8 youth crew. Youth Crew has too many songs about not doing drugs and staying positive. Meanwhile, Just about every song on Demonstrating My Style mentions how important "family" and "brothers" are in order to obtain "unity". Also, they hate girls. Just don't be too put off when you finally listen to Hatebreed and they start talking about wiping tears out of their eyes.

Hahahah, yeah this is true. You can also go way back in the annals to stuff like 7Seconds "Walk Together, Rock Together" but just don't veer into that nihilistic LA poo poo or it will totally harsh your unity buzz. Avail is good too, and even some Hot Water Music songs delve into this "me and my bros just bein' bros" territory.

Also, there are these municipal legends who I found on youtube.

I'm looking for more things along the lines of Owen Pallett and Sufjan Stevens. I really like the style of Parenthetical Girls but most of the songs are pretty unimpressive. I also like tweepopish stuff like Pains of Being Pure At Heart and Radio Dept. but I'm getting kind of sick of the lo-fi poo poo. Even so if someone knows something along those lines that I must hear then mention it please!

Rocketship was a 90's American Twee band from CA that used lots of synths and sounded very Pains-ish. Extremely Pains-ish. If you like Pains, it would be hard not to like Rocketship. Get their first LP, A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness

I'm a massive fan of the synth work of pink floyd, especially the first few parts of "Shine in you Crazy Diamond", and the beginning of "Sheep" is amazing

Is there much other stuff out there like this? Not necessarily the whole prog rock that goes with it (which is awesome) but anything in general. Most modern synth work I hear now doesn't have the subtlety it used to.

Anyone got any recommendations if I want a few albums of traditional Irish (Celtic?) music? I guess I've been hearing that influence in a few of the bands that I like and I'm curious to explore the original sound a little.

The Clancy Brothers' "28 Irish Pub Songs" is a comp of their first two albums, which are both pretty fantastic. Ignore the ridiculous title, the first album is a fiercely political collection of Irish Republican songs. The second LP is a collection of drinking songs, yes, but if this strikes as somehow corny to you, Irish folk music definitely isn't your genre: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1se8_-fcxZs

Other than that, The Dubliners were incredible, Planxty's first LP is gorgeous, Christy Moore's solo career has been consistently great (not particularly "Irish" musically though), The Wolfe Tones did some great political stuff, and I'm sure there's loads of stuff I'm forgetting now.

Of course, you might've meant faux-traditional "Celtic" poo poo like Enya or something, in which case you should ignore my advice and give up music altogether.

Looking for Reggae/Ragga/Dancehall/Reggae Fusion/Whatever that is in the vein of this song by Major Lazer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwlpObaMNuU

I find this type of rapping, ragga rhyming or whatever to be pretty drat entertaining and fun, but I am unable to locate songs that are similar to it whatsoever. My main problem is the artist "Future Trouble" is pretty unknown, and the songs I have been able to find by them are pretty bad (they make fart noises with their mouths and such). The producers got it right on this song however, and I would appreciate if anyone can help me find more music like this. Thanks!

Everyone seems to have ignored your request because it was so strangely phrased, but I'm feeling like a nice guy. I haven't the faintest idea how you could have trouble locating similar songs, though, considering that dancehall is one of the most consistently popular genres throughout the world? Since Major Lazer are fairly esoteric in comparison to ragga mainstream (and, comparatively, not that good at that style anyway), here's a few arbitrary picks from JA & UK:

Look into 80s hardcore punk classics: Minor Threat's complete discography, Black Flag's Damaged, and Descendent's Milo Goes to College are good starts.

If you're interested in the few dub tracks on the album that's a whole 'nother bag.

I recently got the compilation "Toasted: Massive Ragga Jungle" which I really enjoyed. I would love to get into way more Ragga Jungle. I understand that it's largely a singles genre and was wondering if there are any other compilations (or even mix tapes) people would recommend?

Unfortunately, that album will forever be enshrined in the hardcore hall of fame because it is so unique. People have tried to replicate the sound of the ROIR sessions to little success. Whenever you listen to a BB worship band, you just end up wanting to listen to BB.

As for the rest of hardcore, Oatmeal covered "the big three" + The Descendants, which encapsulates the essentials. If you want to go for some deeper cuts, pick up comps like This Is Boston Not L.A, Flex Your Head, Let Them Eat Jelly Beans, Middle of America, and the American Hardcore soundtrack, decide which bands are good, go buy those bands' albums. IMHO This Is Boston Not L.A is the quintessential comp, but that is up for dispute. You could also snag Revelation 100 if you want to dip your listening toes into Youth Crew.

First of all HELL YEAH, good man

First thing you should get is the Rumble In The Jungle comp that Soul Jazz released. Then you should get Remarc - Sound Murderer. Then you should get Bizzy B - Retrospective. Then you should check out the jungle thread in PHIZ, there's shitloads of songs and mixes linked there!

Honestly I listened to the Boston Not L.A. comp recently and thought it was pretty bad, but I'll give it at least one more shot before I write it off completely. I'll definitely check out Minor Threat / Black Flag / Descendants also, thanks a lot to you and Oatmeal for the recommendations.

While that is a fantastic album and song it's odd you picked that song as it only features Amy Milan singing, in fact there are quite a number of tracks in which only one singer sings, or that one sings and one sings and provides very minimal backing vocals.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55FMOJMhV9s is an example of them both singing on Set Yourself On Fire.
