Because people seemed to like it in the AIest images thread, I will re-post this video of a police officer interacting with a friendly Mitsubishi owner. It's probably been in this thread before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdYuAC0oEAY Bonus: Police Camaro vs. M3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vyzFTtTSJs Bavarian-built hot rod. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uukdpszS8U 13 minutes of classic race cars racing with no other bullshit Also my favorite thing about the M3 video is how he "breaks down" but its clearly a clip from earlier in the video. EDIT: BTW according to a news article the kid did get caught so its not just the cops say "errr yea we uh got em...yea." He went off an exit, down a dead end road and into a field. He fled on foot and was caught according to what I read on a thread on snopes. AnomalousBoners fucked around with this message at 03:41 on Aug 26, 2010 |

It's an old video that got a lot of flack for those Wildest Chase people because that kid got away. They edited the video to make it look like they caught him then but they didn't. His dad, either a cop or the mayor don't remember which, made the kid turn himself in the next day. Apparently they do this with a lot of videos of people getting away from the cops in a car chase. I would imagine there's a lot of pressure on them from cops and such to not show people that it is possible to run from the cops and get away with it.

hahha that fat egg headed cop almost crashed into what looked like a CIVILIAN white saturn dodging the first spike strip at 100 mph. yeah that wouldnt have loving hurt the driver or anything. then the bmw driver "made a motion with his shoulders" when the cop came neck and neck with him.. so what does the cop do? immediately pull left as hard as possible completely losing control of his car and almost getting him and another officer killed by going sideways across the highway. what a dipshit. the 15 year old kid put less people in danger than this stupid cop. ijustam posted:http://www.youtube.com/user/yovo68 I worked at a store that had a front row seat on one of these bridges, and this would happen at least once every other week. That black and yellow striped thing is an I-beam that takes most of the impact, and our bridge had that too, but it was suspended by chains for some reason. Usually, the local cops come let air out of the tires and tow them back out, but one day, we had one of those trucks with the cab with the roof that slopes up to the trailer, and this happened: They were there for about four or five hours trying to figure out how to separate the cab from the trailer with so little clearance. We lost interest and never saw how they got it out of there.

I'm starting to get addicted to car chase videos. Here's one from two incredibly bored cops trying to catch a tweaked Elan after it has a little too much fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHQmpaiz2sU It's worth it just to hear their conversation. They don't even turn on the lights or bother pointing the camera (that would be rude). I suspect the American car chase videos are mostly like this as well before Sheriff John Bunell dubs over it with information about the psychotically fast European-tuned independent suspension. Lotus Omega demonstrates why they're scary cars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5o4erh8hiY Seat Safety Switch fucked around with this message at 16:45 on Aug 26, 2010 |

I think I remember hearing that Swedish (or Swiss?) police also aren't allowed to exceed the speed limit in order to catch speeders. I probably heard that from Getaway in Stockholm so take it with a grain of salt. e: Yeah, looks like I got it from this Getaway in Stockholm bit. edit: Here's part of some documentary Clarkson was in, where he buys a jet and tows it across his wife's garden. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnGXerN0tlo Seat Safety Switch fucked around with this message at 18:27 on Aug 26, 2010 |

So, real or not? https://vimeo.com/8749584 I know that modern day F1 cars could drive on the ceiling no problem, and I'm still waiting to see them actually do it, but I don't think the SLS has nearly enough aero to make it stick. Then again, if they went up the wall at an angle and did it quickly enough, they might be able to get enough centrifugal force to do it. I'm not sold one way or the other, but while I think it would be awesome to do it for real, I suspect there's a lot of fancy CG work.

# ? Aug 26, 2010 19:34 |

CG. No real life stuntman would set up that stunt, then have a group of firemen behind jersey barriers that they have to swerve to get around. They also would have shown more than 10 frames of it. They'd put out a half hour "making of" special and it would be all over the news. It would also have to be done with centrifugal force, not aero. A curved ceiling like that would mean air gets under the front lip and lifts you right off. You'd need a completely flat ceiling and hold the car up with aero while it gets up to speed, then catch it when it slows down.
