That's what he was talking about, the same thing happened with Grindhouse (the MSRP was $19.99, the Amazon price was $13.99 before it shot up to $39.95/$24.95) I don't think that will happen in this case since Lionsgate seems to be releasing their movies for extremely cheap lately. Still, I don't think you'll be able to find most of these for any cheaper and if you did, Amazon doesn't charge you until your order ships. You could always cancel before they ship in November. I think Aliens and True Lies both hold up fantastically, though.

The Digital Bits posted:Meanwhile, special effects legend Douglas Trumbull has revealed that he's been working on an amazing new documentary about the making of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, called 2001: Beyond the Infinite - The Making of a Masterpiece. You can get a 3-minute peek at the documentary on his website (scroll down to 2001: A Space Odyssey - Documentary and play the video). It looks to be - at long last - THE definitive account of the making of the film... and a helluva lot of fun as well. It also seems pretty drat likely that this is being created for that new Stanley Kubrick Blu-ray box set that our sources at Warner have told us is being prepared for release next year. Very, very, VERY, VEEEEERRY cool. This box might be the Blu-ray release I'm most excited about right now, I'll tell you. The teaser video is very intriguing.

I'm loving sick of trying to watch Blu-Rays on my PC. Every goddamn disc now refuses to play with this error. AnyDVD, ISO, nothing can bypass this stupid goddamn software flag. It makes it to the menu (or even worse, starts playing the movie) before it errors out. I bought the software, I own the disc, why the gently caress won't they just let me watch it? You don't even need playback software if you want to make a copy of it. Who is this stopping besides people like me? Now I'm looking for a standalone player. Anybody have any experience with the Toshiba BDX2500? Amazon has it for $90 and it has Netflix. Call Me Charlie fucked around with this message at 02:58 on Sep 9, 2010 |

I guess that Arcsoft enabled something on their end where it checks for HDCP during Blu-Ray playback and if it doesn't see it, it errors out. Downloaded the trial of PowerDVD and it refused to open due to the resolution of my screen (I have a 1 TV/1 monitor setup) But gently caress it, standalone players are finally cheap so I'll rip out my LG HD-DVD/Blu-Ray drive, sell it and buy a standalone with the money. This isn't worth the hassle anymore.

If you have region free capability, Amazon.fr has a crazy deal going on right now where you get 90 Euros off if you order 12 Blu-Rays (list here). For $104 shipped I am getting: Bright Star (x2) The Brotherhood of the Wolf (x2) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory The Nest Serpico A Very Long Engagement (x2) La Vie en Rose (x3) There's a ton of other stuff there I was interested in, but I couldn't find any info on whether they were English friendly or had forced French subs. Anyway, after selling the dupes I'll wind up having spent almost nothing on the 7 for my personal collection.

Sporadic posted:True. Kind of funny how the only way I can watch my own discs now is to convert them to MKV Not to be nitpicky, but do you have AnyDVD or AnyDVDHD? Because only the HD version fixes HDCP errors. And yes, cloning displays/dual monitor setups often make bluray playback on a PC poo poo itself. Just get a player.

Crackbone posted:And yes, cloning displays/dual monitor setups often make bluray playback on a PC poo poo itself. This in particular. When I want to watch BluRay on my funky 1080P monitor, I need to disable my secondary via the Display Options applet. It doesn't require a restart or unplugging of anything, but its inane that I should have to do anything at all. I don't have a player because I don't have a TV. Possibly I could buy one and hook it up to my 1080P monitor over HDMI, but the minor hassle of disabling the secondary doesn't, at this time, justify the cost of an external player.
