Does anyone know if there's an encore of the Reefer Madness RiffTrax Live coming at some point? I had to miss it last night because I was playing a show. I seem to recall there being an encore of the Plan 9 one last year, though I got to go to that one live, so I didn't pay much attention to how far after the live event it happened.

I just watched through Jaws and holy poo poo, totally worth it just for Kevin Murphy's riffs and his big musical number at the end of the film.

I bought all the Star Wars tracks and man they're great. My favourite riff is probably from Return of The Jedi (As Han rescues Lando from the sarlacc) Kevin: That sarlacc has had to endure so much witty banter over the years Bill: You mean the sarlacc that inhabits the great pit of Carkoon? Kevin: The very same yes Bill: Ok so we're talking about the same sarlacc Kevin: That's right Just because of the goofy voice Kevin does when he says "The very same yes". Makes me laugh every time.

I've mostly watched the riffs with Kevin, Bill, and Mike. Are any of the Rifftrax Presents riffs any good? Running Man was such a bizarre movie that I suspect it would make really good riffing-material, but I'm not really familiar with the riffers, for example.

Rifftrax Presents are pretty good... the Kevin & Bill - Day After Tomorrow riff for example is probably the best Rifftrax done to date. The Cole & Janet riffs are all pretty good too with my own highlights being Dirty Dancing and Ghost. Bill & Mary Jo doing X-Files is loving awful, but not necessarily due to the riffing itself, more down to the incredibly tedious nature of the film. On the whole though, if you see Kevin Murphy anywhere, it'll be a good riff.

Startton/Varney have done mostly 80s "classics" and do a pretty good job. Elliott does solo work and is usually pretty good. I don't know if Mike & company write their riffs.

If you don't have an aversion to those types of movies (though I feel it's tamer than it's made out to be), the Saw riff with Kevin & Bill is one of my favorites.

I'd like to thank everyone for the advice about the shorts. I bought every short that was suggested to me and they are all great. My favorite is a tie between Drugs Are Like That, One Got Fat and Things Are Different Now. The baseball scene in "Things Are Different Now" is one of my favorite Rifftrax bits of all time.

Trying to decide between The Matrix Reloaded, Star Wars episode 2, or Jurassic Park for this weekend. Any thoughts? I watched Star Wars episode 1 a few weeks ago and loved it but goddamn episode 2 is such an awful movie, I don't know if I could sit through it even with the commentary.

Captain Charisma posted:If Jurassic Park is a treasured childhood memory, I'd avoid it. My opinion of the movie crashed after watching the Rifftrax. The Rifftrax for good movies, I feel, make them fun again. Jurassic Park, Alien, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Iron Man, Casino Royale, The Dark Knight, Drag Me to Hell, Fifth Element, Predator, and NEW Star Trek all had great riffs. And with movies like Alien and Predator, which I've probably seen 30 times each, the riffs were really welcome and refreshing. The abysmal cinematic abortions, like Transformers 1/2, Twilight, and The Day After Tomorrow, are, of course, much funnier. But other than The Room, Glitter and Next, I recommend all of them. So I may be extremely biased.

My girlfriend had a few of her lady friends around one night and, after getting onto the subject of terrible movies, put on the riff for them. They howled with laughter, both at the terrible movie itself and also at the surprisingly good riff. I initially hated the riff and thought the underlying movie funny enough on its own, but the riff now ranks in my top five. You owe it to yourself to give it another chance. One I liked initially but have grown to not like at all is Casablanca. We tried to get through it a few weeks ago but it wasn't the best; the jokes kept missing and there wasn't much creativity or breadth of material. It was all references to people we didn't know and callbacks to things that outstayed their welcome the first time around.
