Watch the first episode. If you don't like that one, you're not going to like the rest of it.

Amazon just notified me that Twilight Zone has shipped. I know what I'm going to be doing for the next month or two.

I love Glee. But yeah, I would recommend watching like 2 episodes, and your opinion of those will pretty much inform your opinion of the rest of the show. It's very consistent in what it is.

But no seriously, the show is good, but not for me. Like qbert said, watch two episodes and that will decide if you like it or not. It is actually a solid show, but it ends up being a love it or hate it show.

TheDigitalBits reports that Trumbull's 2001 documentary just got nixed. :(

While the current Blu is fantastic, one idea is to make a "companion" release with the documentary and some other featuress. For example, there's an Arthur C. Clarke interview that was on the old MGM DVD. The deleted scenes exist in Turner's archives in 65mm color separations, which could finally be transferred to 1080p.

Eh, 2001 is my favorite piece of art and I was a little uncomfortable with how he was just inserting himself into the original shots in that trailer. I understand he wants to document the work he did on it but illustrate it in some other manner.
I don't think i'll watch it anyways because learning too much behind the scenes stuff can sometimes interfere with your perception of a film.

That ACC interview sounds interesting, but the real goldmine of information on the 2001 BR/HDDVD is the audio interview with Kubrick from 1966. I had never even heard the dude's voice before and he details a ton of stuff from his life, it's just a wonderful historical document.

I thought America: The Story of Us was just alright. I was expecting more Ken Burns than re-enacted stuff. It seemed like one of those poo poo videos you'd have to watch in school that came supplementary to the text book.

The further along the show got, the worse it got IMO, if only because the breaking point where actual video footage existed made the re-enactments stupid and unnecessary.

~$50 doesn't seem unreasonable for 12 hours of really great programming. I got it for about $40 several months ago and had one of the best weekends in a long time smoking a bunch of weed, eating a bunch of junk food, and watching the entire series in one straight shot :D

Return of the Living Dead looks pretty good, albeit with some minor inconsistencies in picture quality from scene to scene (or sometimes within the same scene). All-in-all, for a cheesy little 80's flick I was pleasantly surprised.

This was me as well. Saving Private Ryan did a lot more for me. Now that I am a lot more mature, I should be able to appreciate this movie a lot. I am looking forward to seeing the blu-ray version.

Can anyone tell me about the various international versions of Let the Right One In? I was dumb enough to buy the US release with the bad subtitles, and on principle I'd rather not give Magnolia MORE money to replace the lovely product they released originally. Get the UK copy. Picture quality is largely the same between versions (~20mbps H.264 on the UK+Sweden, 22mbps VC-1 on the US) but the UK has 24-bit DTS-HD MA and commentary.

It's okay. Competent but not exceptional, watchable but not very original. I still wish The Milk of Sorrow had won the Oscar. Kinda seemed like the Academy just picked the film that most resembled something from Hollywood.

Anyone with a 3d tv who has been waiting for ANY content to become available outside of exclusives, Warner Brothers have announced 6 3D blu-ray titles will be released on November 16. The selection is... mixed at best. From High Def Digest:

Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore 3D
Clash of the Titans 3D
The Polar Express 3D
IMAX Deep Sea 3D
IMAX Under the Sea 3D
IMAX Space Station 3D

At the very least, it's nice to see studios are starting to release SOME content that doesn't require you to buy a 300 dollar glasses kit to get it.

I'd like to hope that around the time the bundle exclusives become widely purchasable, adoption would increase. I love Coraline and How To Train Your Dragon, but at the moment (or rather, in a few weeks, when Dragon replaces Monsters vs Aliens in the Samsung starter kit) I'm not about to pick a particular brand of tv just to get one movie. You'd have a lot more people interested if the companies included them for free in the package, but let people walk up and buy them off the shelf too. It's not like 3D prices are still horribly outrageous anymore. I saw a bundle at Best Buy the other day of a 46" 3D 1080p Samsung with a free 3d blu-ray player and starter kit for ~$1700. Considering my parents bought a non-3d tv a little bit larger than that for much more a few years ago (on sale, no less), I'd say 3d is becoming pretty reasonably priced. It's just hard for any consumer to want to pay that much for a feature they aren't able to use. That'll only be rectified once there's a whole line of big-name movies to buy.

Edit: I think the rumored 1 year exclusivity window for Avatar may be the biggest thing that can possibly hurt the format. 1 year is just plain idiotic, especially in the film industry where "the next big movie" is always only a few months away.

It was pretty bad with far too much mythology in the place of historical accuracy. I only saw a couple episodes, but it was nothing worth seeing considering how much material there is on US History already.
