Ok, so I got my hands on a copy of Glee. What I need to know is whether I should even bother watching any of it.

What if I occasionally pop a boner into my fat gullet but don't actually consider myself to be gay?

If you don't like that one, you're not going to like the rest of it. Amazon just notified me that Twilight Zone has shipped. I know what I'm going to be doing for the next month or two.

But yeah, I would recommend watching like 2 episodes, and your opinion of those will pretty much inform your opinion of the rest of the show. It's very consistent in what it is.

Like qbert said, watch two episodes and that will decide if you like it or not. It is actually a solid show, but it ends up being a love it or hate it show.

Eh, 2001 is my favorite piece of art and I was a little uncomfortable with how he was just inserting himself into the original shots in that trailer. I understand he wants to document the work he did on it but illustrate it in some other manner. I don't think i'll watch it anyways because learning too much behind the scenes stuff can sometimes interfere with your perception of a film. That ACC interview sounds interesting, but the real goldmine of information on the 2001 BR/HDDVD is the audio interview with Kubrick from 1966. I had never even heard the dude's voice before and he details a ton of stuff from his life, it's just a wonderful historical document.

The Fifth Element is getting a re-release November 16, presumably with special features this time. Just got done watching Se7en. I hesitate to use the word "gorgeous" to describe such a film, but the transfer truly is exactly that.

I thought America: The Story of Us was just alright. I was expecting more Ken Burns than re-enacted stuff. It seemed like one of those poo poo videos you'd have to watch in school that came supplementary to the text book. The further along the show got, the worse it got IMO, if only because the breaking point where actual video footage existed made the re-enactments stupid and unnecessary.

Return of the Living Dead looks pretty good, albeit with some minor inconsistencies in picture quality from scene to scene (or sometimes within the same scene). All-in-all, for a cheesy little 80's flick I was pleasantly surprised.

I saw the Thin Red Line like 11 years ago and it was too slow for me, but I was a stoopid kid and everything. The cast is absurd and the videophile in me wants to see that transfer so drat bad, should I go ahead and buy it? Is it something I'm way more likely to appreciate as an adult, or is my opinion unlikely to change?

Amazon is running a deal where if you buy a select Blu-Ray player, you get a select movie or boxset free. They have a good selection of Criterion titles and TV boxsets. http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.h...creative=390957 I'm tempted to get that Samsung player and Season 2 of Breaking Bad.

Can anyone tell me about the various international versions of Let the Right One In? I was dumb enough to buy the US release with the bad subtitles, and on principle I'd rather not give Magnolia MORE money to replace the lovely product they released originally. I've been thinking about importing, but I'm having a hard time finding reliable info on which countries have region-free releases and how they compare to the US in picture quality.

Anyone with a 3d tv who has been waiting for ANY content to become available outside of exclusives, Warner Brothers have announced 6 3D blu-ray titles will be released on November 16. The selection is... mixed at best. From High Def Digest: Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore 3D Clash of the Titans 3D The Polar Express 3D IMAX Deep Sea 3D IMAX Under the Sea 3D IMAX Space Station 3D At the very least, it's nice to see studios are starting to release SOME content that doesn't require you to buy a 300 dollar glasses kit to get it.

I was just saying elsewhere that I watched the Monster House 3D Blu-Ray last night and it was fantastic. It's a shame the format seems to be going down the toilet so fast because it's really wonderful when it's done correctly.

I'd like to hope that around the time the bundle exclusives become widely purchasable, adoption would increase. I love Coraline and How To Train Your Dragon, but at the moment (or rather, in a few weeks, when Dragon replaces Monsters vs Aliens in the Samsung starter kit) I'm not about to pick a particular brand of tv just to get one movie. You'd have a lot more people interested if the companies included them for free in the package, but let people walk up and buy them off the shelf too. It's not like 3D prices are still horribly outrageous anymore. I saw a bundle at Best Buy the other day of a 46" 3D 1080p Samsung with a free 3d blu-ray player and starter kit for ~$1700. Considering my parents bought a non-3d tv a little bit larger than that for much more a few years ago (on sale, no less), I'd say 3d is becoming pretty reasonably priced. It's just hard for any consumer to want to pay that much for a feature they aren't able to use. That'll only be rectified once there's a whole line of big-name movies to buy. Edit: I think the rumored 1 year exclusivity window for Avatar may be the biggest thing that can possibly hurt the format. 1 year is just plain idiotic, especially in the film industry where "the next big movie" is always only a few months away.
