Things I have watched Seasons 1-3 of Alfred Hitchcock Presents-not available anymore instant but that was a hell of a watch. The complete Faulty Towers-very funny British comedy show starring John Cleese. The complete Kolchak the Night Stalker-Cheesey 70's TV goodness. The Burning-great gory and really silly slasher flick. Return to Sleepaway Camp-I am watching this right now and it is really worth of watch if you loved the original. ----------------

ArtieTSMITW posted:Seasons 1-7 of 24. Season 1 of Heroes was awesome though. I really liked that, although I never would have been able to watch it live with 20 minutes of commercials and a week between every episode. The pacing is a little slow for TV but perfect for DVD/WI. Cube 2: HyperCube isn't as good as the first version, but Cube 1 is DVD-only so beggars can't be choosers. Speaking of Cubes, Ice Cube in "Friday" is available on Watch Instantly, and that's a great movie too from a completely different genre. I'll probably get crap for saying 24 is awful and liking the movie Sex Drive but that movie made me laugh out loud. I might just like Seth Green as an Amish and a doughnut with a giant mustache.

Question for the crowd: I just purchased a Netflix account for my Dad (to go with a new Blu-Ray player woohoo), but when I go to the "Watch Instantly" menu I don't seem to have the "Add to Instant Watching Queue" option for movies like on my account. Is it because there are no devices activated yet for his account, or because it's in the one month trial period? Or did I set up the options wrong somehow for his account?

Well, poo poo. Event Horizon got yanked with no warning. I had it added to the queue, was going to watch it this weekend, looked for it today and WHOOPS NOT AVAILABLE. God dammit, this just irritates me. Don't they give you a few weeks warning usually? A few of my movies have a small little red warning on em saying "Available until Sept 22". I never got that with EH. Edit - gently caress. I log into my account to send em an email saying "Why did this happen?" and there is no way to email them. Assholes. At first I thought it was just going to be a parody blacksploitation film, but then Black Dynamite stood up from his desk and the boom mike was in the shot. Not to say this movie was bad, it is a skillfully crafted masterpiece of parody full of laughs. Best character name ever: Chocolate Giddy-up. After it was over I was kind of mixed on it. I liked it, because I love ridiculous parodies (like the good Scary Movies), but it was just as bad those but in a special way...I don't know. The Crazies was just added if you're a fan of the zombie-ish genre. It's quite a good remake.

If anyone likes comedy and hasn't seen Parks & Recreation yet, now's your chance. Season 1 is slow to get good, but it's only six episodes. By the finale, it found its footing, and the full-length Season 2 is comedy gold all the way through. It has a lot more character development, heart, and consistent humor than The Office has had since its Season 2/3 peak. Also, The State is available for streaming, MTV's sketch comedy show that ran from 1993-95 and gave rise to several recognizable comic actors of the last 15 years, including Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, and David Wain of Stella, and Thomas Lennon, Kerri Kinney, and Robert Ben Garant of Reno 911. It's not all perfect, but it has aged a lot better than most sketch shows do, including lots of Saturday Night Live from that same era. My favorite sketch ever from The State, "Porcupine Racetrack," is near the end of Episode 17. Lots of good David Lynch stuff is up, including Dune (which I had never seen), Blue Velvet, Wild At Heart, Mulholland Drive (that one is next for me), Inland Empire, two documentaries about Lynch, and a collection of his short films. Make sure to check out Big Time, a previously hard-to-find concert/performance art film by my favorite musical artist, Tom Waits. Oh, and Batman: Under the Red Hood kicked rear end, as did Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Justice League: The New Frontier, and the best DC animated film of them all, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. EDIT: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai is a cult classic for good reason, and I'm sure a lot of Goons will love it if they haven't seen it already. And Wristcutters: A Love Story was a surprisingly wonderful movie that you'll probably enjoy if you liked Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Stranger Than Fiction, or Adaptation.
