I've got a memory of an old sketch from a British TV show (not Monty Python or Benny Hill, I think) involving three men. They stand on a stage and roleplay. Left to right, they are a medieval serf, a Rennaissance scholar, and a modern man. They all express their answers to things like religion and science, and on the science question the serf merely answers, "I am a poor, ignorant serf." Anyone know what this was from/have a YouTube vid of the sketch?

There's a name for this illusion/phenomenon, and it's something to do with the fact that its background color is such a contrast (red on green) - what's it called? Whatever it is it's freaking me the gently caress out, I can't stop staring. The main part of the image is flat, single tones - cartoon like. The woman has a drop shadow, but she doesn't have any shading on her. The red paint looks to be a photograph or at least, when they've tried to apply the same effect as they did to the woman, they couldn't get rid of the heavy shadows on the clumps of paint. It looks more genuine and, with the added drop shadow "pops" out from the background. So a well placed drop shadow, and high contrast between subject and background.

The same wine was for instance put in the bottle of a cheap wine and the bottle of an expensive wine, and that influenced the peoples' judgement of the wine a lot. Also, they colored white wine red and still people thought it tasted well if put in the bottle of an expensive wine. I don't have the article for you, but I can confirm a close encounter of the third kind: I had visitors over one day who called for champagne when simply asked if they wanted something to drink. I'm not a monster, so I served up a bottle of Lanson that had been sitting in the fridge since NYE. When they finished that, and I asked if they'd like anything else, it was champagne again. In the kitchen, my g/f poured a bottle of vile plonk (free present at the local super when you'd bought enough stuff, also dating back to last NYE), into the empty Lanson bottle. The guests were just as pleased and ooh'ed and aah'ed their way through what I'm sure must have made them sit up all night cursing the house of Lanson.

That's what I assumed, but you never know with these computing terms that you just read for years and years and come up with your own pronunciations.

Hello, I have a question on the origins of this story and quote. quote:A father and son go to a demonstration. The father begins to get beaten by the police, and he turns around to see his son looking away. Afterwards the father tells his son, "Real revolutionaries don't close their eyes." Does anyone know where this came from? Thanks.

Im going to give away an IDE DVD ROM Drive on the Goon Marketplace, the only thing I ask is just the shipping price. The problem is I never done this before and am confused on how I can get the money safely from the person without exposing a credit card or anything. Actually, I prefer cash but I guess paypal is fine. How would the whole process work? Im assuming something like this: 1)Create Paypal account, ask "buyer" to send a certain amount of cash to my account to cover shipping costs 2) Go to post office, package and send to respective address? Im quite confused on how this goes.

I was going to say gypsy code, but the Irish 'travellers' and US hobos (like the other guy explained) all use it in variations. If you look around the web a bit, you'll find examples for symbols meaning things like: - mean dog - guy with gun - woman living alone - gullible old people - friendlies - WoW player, won't open door That sort of thing. Other methods are, or used to be: strategically placed pebbles, strands of fabric tied to trees, scratches on walls, etc.

What would I search for to find shoes like this? They look like slippers that end at the ankle, but had a rubber sole meant for walking outside. They were also made of that sweater knit that's been popular for a little while now. I want to say they looked like moccasins but it was a mixup between them and slippers.

I think this probably isn't worth starting it's own thread for... What's the process of buying/insuring/registering/anything else I need to do for a used car in Alberta, Canada. I'm a non-car-owning Brit moving to Canada for a year, and I understand the process is very different. I've been told that you insure the person, not the car - is that right?

I don't know if it was a sex education video or a condom advertisement but once I saw an amazing CG clip where some guy flies on a penis through an (underwater? not sure) vagina world, where various plants and animals were made from different genital parts. It was pretty dynamic, very colourful and amazingly animated. I think it was also French (not sure). I tried googling it but the results are mostly porn Anybody?
