Nope, France is the only place it's been released as far as I know. It's the movie that finally pushed me over the edge to go region free, and boy do I not regret it for a second. Spartacus: Blood and Sand Season 1 is $35 at Wal-Mart and Fry's. If you haven't ordered it from Amazon yet and don't feel like waiting for them to ship you a copy (and really, you shouldn't wait), run out and grab it. Great release.

Did you pick up Spartacus yet? If so what color is the stripe at the top of the slipcover? I got my copy from Best Buy and it's yellow instead of blu with a gold bluray logo that you can almost barely see. I'm just curious cause all of the pictures and reviews I saw online displayed a different box color scheme.

Bambi posted:For real? That's awesome. Interesting that neither Gary's comments nor the review he quotes address the amount of humor in the film. The tone is rather similar to Seventh Seal in its combination of drama and comedy. Also, I've never a seen a "good" version of The Magician, but those screens look awfully gray to me.

doctor thodt posted:Moulin Rouge! screencaps: Honestly, even with Alien and BTTF coming out this year, this is easily my most anticipated catalog release. I love the poo poo out of Moulin Rouge ( ) and the film was just made to be seen on this format (and hopefully with uncompressed audio). Picked up Bored to Death season one today; looks great, a little light on features though and with packaging clearly designed by someone who has not actually seen the show.

Another quick question about it though, does anyone know if Best Buy price matches with Wal-mart. It's only 10$ difference so I'm not to worried about it but it would be nice to get 10 back.

One of the (I admit, petty) disappointments I have about blu-ray is that most cases feel so much cheaper and flimsier than dvd cases, and the blue color somewhat bothers me. Criterion probably uses their Blu-height cases because of booklets. They have to be fairly small to fit in the thin cases (see MoC's Sunrise). I have 8 BluRays on pre-order, which is probably the most I've ever: Modern Times, Paths of Glory, The World at War, Fantasia, Sherlock Jr/Three Ages, Psycho, MoC's Metropolis steelbook, and Toy Story 3 (4-disc). WoW was mainly to lock in the sale price. I'm probably going to cancel Fantasia at the last minute if the re-editing is poorly done, though.

Lion King is next year. In fact, there's a trailer for it on Beauty and the Beast! Next year's already stacked for Disney: Lion King, Bambi, Dumbo, and Alice in Wonderland. That's already twice as many as 2010 (Beauty and the Beast is the first animated classic they're releasing this year, and Fantasia is the only other one).
