Would you be able to check the barcodes in Argos? Don't they keep everything in the back?

Minifigs are kept in their box on the counter. Or at least, my local stores for S1 were, and when I popped in to see if they had S2, they were as well.

Hey, OP, if no one's taken you up on the offer of trading a full set of series 2 for series 1, we just finished collecting two sets of them (with a ton of others to spare, but only two spartans in total) and would be more than happy to send them if you'd like. :) We're in NJ so shipping shouldn't be too horrendous, I hope.

edit: Added crap picture because having like 2 posts despite being on the forums since 2006 is probably shifty.

The price on those spartans is loving criminal. I just wanted one because I like historal-themed Legos (that's why I caved and bought Roman stuff from Brickforge), but a bunch of dumbass jerks trying to army build are ruining the fun, like usual. I hope they reissue all the collectable minifigs later.

Personally I think it's unlikely they'll re-release the figs, but Series 1 and 2 were kind of a unique case. None of the stores knew what to do with them, so they just didn't order that many. As a result, Series 1 was hard to get, but because the public didn't know about them either, they weren't too rare. Now that they're popular, Series 2 is kind of a mess to find. I finally found them at the Rockefeller Plaza Lego Store. They're well-stocked with them, and will likely be for a while, as that's the new flagship store. Hopefully, now that the big stores know what they are and how popular they are, Series 3 and beyond will be better-stocked.

If it's any consolation for you, it appears that they're reusing the spartan helmet in that Atlantis set I posted earlier, only in a different color.

This was the last Lego set I ever got.

You can always order the minifigs from LEGO.com. I ordered 10 more for me. I think the limit is 16 (go figure).

Thanks for the fun thread, everyone. It's cool to see what everyone is working on and it convinced me to pick up a few toys off the lego website.

I was disappointed to see that the Millennium Falcon isn't available from the lego website. Was it discontinued?

It was on sale very briefly back in May for the obscenely low price of $375 (MSRP $500), but now I think the only place you can get it for under a grand is on eBay.

Don't get me wrong, the market spoke and I paid my goddam $9 for one on bricklink, I just feel bad for people without the means to do so. I just like to think of Legos as being carefree fun for everyone, but now we're into "star exclusive sets" and "minifig scalping" territory and it's really sad.

The last I saw of it was at the BrickFair store event, where they bring out damaged boxes for half price. I got one for $250 at the Brickworld event, myself. I would be really surprised to see them again, though. They've been out of regular circulation for months, now.

I absolutely agree with you. The Minifigs should have been nothing more than a fun impulse buy, and I think better supplies will make them that way next year.

I think I actually managed to complete series 2, but won't know until my daughter opens them. Pretty cool. Almost decided to pick up as many Spartans as I could, and will probably wind up going back this evening.

Completely unrelated, but I am looking forward to the Harry Potter collection. It looks like they've put a lot of thought into it.

Because of the talk, I sat down to build a sand miner for a desert scorpion cage.

I may have overshot the size I can fit in a cage. I dub it "Carnegie's Wonder Miner"

The topmost level has a survey droid, the main crane, the ship owner and his....friend, most of the crew and guards, and some dredging gear in the back. In the middle are the two drivers, and the rest/storage room in the back. On the bottom are the main worker droids, as being that close to the sand can be far to dangerous for a human worker.

(crappy) top shot

The drivers

Side shot, with the crane down carrying a rock

Back shot, with specialist diver in resting room, and some dredging gear down

Other side, view of worker droids

I don't like the legs, but I really don't have many LEGO pieces to work with.
