Too bad about the Scott Pilgrim cover, I was hoping for the one with just Cera with the guitar and the red background. Eh, whatever. I can't believe the amount of pre-orders you folk are carrying, the accountant in me won't let me give away interest-free loans like that. I usually never pre-order but right now I've got Thin Red Line, Apocalypse Now, and Scott Pilgrim. At some point I'll nab the Alien Anthology, too.

This fall is stacked, at least my girlfriend has things she can buy me for Christmas (Videodrome, Seven Samurai, The Exorcist), I'm one of those people who are terrible at coming up with things for people to get them.

I did a big Amazon order with my last paycheck of the summer, among other things I did a blind buy of The Baader Meinhof Complex, has anyone else picked this up? Its a phenomenal release and definitely now one of my favorites on the shelf.

Great Blu-Ray of a great film. MPI is responsible for some awesome discs: Baraka, Becket, Mary and Max, Tell No One, etc.

Really looking forward to checking out The Killer Inside Me from them next week.

edit: the cover art is hilariously bad though. Look at how smooshed everything is!

I've got a question for you guys.

I've had my Blu-ray player since Christmas and I've only brought one Blu-ray with it, Bullit.

I have netflix and have had a bunch of Blu-rays, but I can't decide what ones to buy.

Does anyone have a site that has the essential Blu-rays to own or can someone give a list of decent titles?

Also, that question's kind of hard to answer without knowing what kind of movies you're into.

Why would you buy if you have Netflix? Keep renting until you find a title you must have/will watch multiple times, than buy it.

Rules of thumb:

- Do you have a Criticker account? No? Well, maybe you should. It's a little bit of work, but it's a good resource. Once you've done that, I think it's safe to say the top 10 titles on your overall rankings are own-worthy. Maybe even top 25.

- Ritual movies are a must-buy. Anything you know you'll watch multiple times with friends, or by yourself, are sort of necessary.

- Have a personal favorite you're on the fence about, and it got a great Blu-Ray release? Consider getting it. I already own the Back to the Future DVD set, but the sheer enormity of the Blu-Ray set is making me consider a purchase. Same goes if it got a lovely DVD release, or no release at all.

They don't charge you until it ships, and you get the lowest price over the course of the preorder. Unless you change your mind about a preorder and forget to cancel before the ship date, there is no downside.

There's also a thread in SA-Mart dedicated to shared Prime accounts. If you split it 5 ways, you get a year of Prime for $16 each.

Perhaps it's in the nature of television. Just waves in space.
I am having very mixed feelings right now.

On one hand, I am ecstatic because my Se7en blu-ray just arrived here.
On the other, I am sad because my 1080p laptop is being repaired, and there isn't an HD TV in my dorm room to watch it in all of its glory.

I guess I'll just have to stick with a 420p :qq:

I would prefer the cover to be the same as the movie poster, but I'm not that worried about it since i have noticed a lot of movies doing different covers for movies based on what version you buy.

For example, Iron Man 2 has different covers for the Bluray+DVD+Digital Copy, Just the Bluray, and just the DVD, plus the Target exclusive.

I hardly ever watch or redeem the digital copies so I would probably just pick up the bluray only Scott Pilgrim.
