I HATE CARS posted:We were talking about HDR and Flickr the 5 posts above it so I'm not sure what you're on about. alright. fair point, sorry geeves. I only posted that because I looked at your blog and noticed your love of hate, without relevancy/without borders. whoa hating hdr just loving depresses me because it seems like such a easy way out of improving yourself. "my own work is poo poo, but by hating this particular filter that is used by many, and not using it myself, I can therefore feel better about my own work, which is still poo poo." I just hate photographers.

Kinda pointless to hate on others especially when you can learn something from it. Unless the photo is a men's bathroom taken by Ken Rockwell with +8 saturation.

This from an article about the pros and cons of FX v. DX in Nikon. The whole thing reads like a guy who has a crop camera and is pissed at Nikon making their top of the line cameras full frame. http://www.pixiq.com/article/the-nikon-dx-fx-formats-pro-et-contra Don't know why the article rubbed me the wrong way so badly, but it just has too much ever so slight bias and misinformation.

I thought the line of thinking was essentially FF is the best but crop sensors do a pretty good job for most users.

torgeaux posted:The whole thing reads like a guy who has a crop camera and is pissed at Nikon making their top of the line cameras full frame. Somehow he things a higher pixel density is an advantage? Given two different sensors of equal MP, the larger one will have less diffraction and more detail. His point of crop factor being a benefit is just as retarded as a 1.4 extender is much more better than a 1.5 crop factor. His idea that the extra stop gained when comparing depth of field is just insane. I can't think of ever being stuck shooting at f/2 thinking "drat it, why can't I use f/2.8", and if I ever do, I'll use that extra stop of ISO that full frames gain. The thought that FF cameras have bad vignetting is blaming the wrong thing. Vignetting is bad lens design, not bad camera design, and given the advancement of digital lens correction it is a completely irrelevant point.

Is there any general consensus on Ken Rockwell around here? I see people often linking to his site on other photography forums. I just can't find myself getting into anything he has to say. After hearing how I'm an idiot for using a tripod during the day because he failed to account for the multitude of reasons why someone might use one, and being told to use the FART system for better photos, I felt I was done with Mr. Rockwell. Should I give him another chance?
