Marc has no love lost for Joe. When he was doing the Mencia interviews he let it be known that he thought Joe was a bully.

Speaking of Rogan, I don't listen every week but the Doug Stanhope episode was awesome.

At first it sounded like he was considering doing WTF ("I got an e-mail from Marc Maron but I'm not sure if I should answer because I don't want to argue") but they got a lot more negative on the subject from there.

We're all going to experience changes in our life but only the best of us will qualify for front row seats.

A great episode of DLM, but I could have done without the Dexter season 4 spoilers not related to Lithgow's character. What made it even worse is that I completely missed the spoiler the first time, because I was doing something else. So at the start of the Maltin game I rewinded a bit. A bit too far :smith:

VVV Spoiler-tag that poo poo, son!

Oh man, this day started off really lovely but got so much better when I got to listen to both a Lithgow episode of DLM AND a new Pod F. Tompkast. They were both fantastic.

Also if Paul F. Tompkins had mentioned it before I missed it, but he's confirmed now that his episodes will be coming out on the first of every month. Now I can stop mashing the update button every day!

It really didn't seem like that big of a deal, the details were vague. I actually wasn't completely sure if they were joking. I'm currently watching the beginning of Season 4 and it didn't bother me at all, if anything it made me more interested to see exactly what happens next. Then again spoilers in general have never bothered me, if a show is ruined by one plot twist being revealed too early then it's probably not worth watching.

Agreed. That was a really cool interview (especially Brian riding Tom's dick). It's great to hear him speak seriously about things, but whenever I hear his voice I just start cracking up. It's almost like I could listen to a Tom Green 911 call after a car accident and I'd be laughing my rear end off.

A pretty solid encapsulation of UYD, from someone on their forums;

Jonathan and Seth, two inhabitants of Hollyweird with vastly divergent backgrounds, have turned an unusually solid rapport into a vivid and agile team assault on lunacies both of the garden variety and of the rarified. The format is fairly basic: intro and outro songs bookend discussions of a dozen-ish news items or internet discoveries that the hosts haven’t yet discussed. The secret sauce is the freeform development of their perspectives as they crawl into the heads of the stories’ participants and laughingly freak out the whole way there. When the stories veer, and they often do, into personal anecdotes, you learn that their own histories have equipped them with insights into absurdity most other podcast hosts can’t match. This show, while consistently funny and insanely quotable, is really about experiencing the personalities of two dudes who somehow manage to maintain a deeply grounded and never-unkind sensibility while navigating through the insanities both of their flighty surroundings and of their hyperawareness of a world frantically careening towards a brainsick end.

WTF now has an iPhone app. It's not anything special functionality-wise, but if you're not using something like Podcaster, might be a good way to keep up. Also has a premium upgrade option.

This is more of a heads up for Maron fans than an advertising spiel, so I'll leave it there.

On that note -- Marc released a podcast over the weekend. It's NOT a WTF, and in fact is pretty heavy (he's discussing the deaths of Robert Schimmel and Greg Giraldo), but it gives a good sense of the aspects of his personality that makes the show appealing. Well, appealing to me, at least.

Agreed on all counts. The first part of Louis CK is up, too, but I'd suggest people start by giving the tribute half-hour a listen.

Uhh Yeah Dude has a lot of fans in the UK, but a lot of their dialect and conversations might be completely baffling to you. It's like when Americans listen to British shows where the hosts give no poo poo about sounding listenable to people outside of their country.

Sick & Wrong is probably more translatable, disgusting hosed up things happen all over the world.

The rest are basic comedy central/stand up comedian shows which I guess translate usually pretty well. But I recommend Sick & Wrong and You Look Nice Today.

It's definitely worth a listen - kind of exemplifies the best aspects of the world of standup, especially the respect and admiration so many comics have for each other.

He was very true and respectful - It's brave of him to be that vulnerable to so many people (Psst....I don't know if you guys have noticed it, but WTF, at least those first 8-10 minutes of the show, are kind of like an audio diary for Marc.)

While The Field Negro Guide to Arts and Culture with Vernon Reid and W. Kamau Bell is only on it's third ep and comes out rather sporadically, it's a pretty good show. I'd never think that I'd be listening to a talk show by the guy from Living Colour and really digging it.

See You Next Tuesday keeps getting better and better. Troy's really honing his craft. Walking the Room is another newer show that is starting to hit it's stride.

The Lavender Hour with Duncan Trussell (The guy telling the story about Tesla and Edison on "Drunk History") is really good if you're into that whole weird metaphysical/conspiracy/intellectual minutae type deal that Joe Rogan delves into a lot. Duncan and his girl comedian Natasha Leggero are pretty funny.

If you haven't seen it yet, go watch: Drunk History is AMAZING!

The OP is almost exactly the list of podcasts I listen to. I love them all, but I gotta say none of them hold a candle to Comedy Death Ray. Never Not Funny is great with the right guest but I'm not a Pat Francis fan and he's on a lot. Plus, Would You Rather > Judge Jimmy.

I want to like Comedy and Everything Else more but it's really just not the same without Todd Glass. I don't think I ever actually even found out WHY he left the show, he almost said it on Never Not Funny but he just turned it into a "thank you to the fans" type send off.

You're right in saying that would you rather is much better than Judge Jimmy. I'm thinking Jimmy is in agreement with you too because they haven't done it or stupid question in a while. Though it may have been mostly in jest he says they just do it when the guest drags. Lately the guests have been great though.

Excuse me, I'm two minutes into the Jon Hamm episode and it's already hilarious. :)
