Alright, a cherries jubilee and that's it.
Any reason I shouldn't jump on this and make it my daily rider around campus?

Well yea, but all it needs is headlight, tail light, and mirrors yes?
Plus registration and mounting a license plate on it I suppose.

1976 Honda CB 200 T 1400 Original Miles - $600

For sale: 1976 Honda CB 200 T with 1400 original miles. Bike is in fantastic original shape. I sold the bike on Ebay for $1250 and when I went to start the bike to ship it, it developed an engine problem. The bike sounds and runs fine, but it has oil blowing out the crank case vent pipe. I told the guy I would have to fix it before I shipped it to him and he decided he didn't want the bike. It would be a good project for somebody who could fix this little Honda engine. Like I said, it's 1400 original miles. Has clean title.

Suppose he just overfilled it with oil? Cute little bike. What else would cause that symptom?

Dunno. But my dad had the red/orange version, and I'd love to hunt the thing down. Unfortunately, I don't think any docs with the VIN on it survived. Keep your old papes, people, you just never know...

Sooooo Im thinking about getting a new bike. My dad told me all about his old Honda 90 and now Ive got vintage bikes on my mind.

Saw this on CL:

quote:

Hey there,

I'm selling a 1975 Yamaha RS-100 (100cc) motorcycle in mint condition. This bike looks like it just came out of 1975, inside and out. The whole bike is original, and it only has about 3000 miles! Good luck finding a bike like this with that low of mileage. It has a green/gold paint job with the Yamaha logos in perfect condition. The gas tank has only a few minor dings and scratches, very minimal. The leather seat is in perfect shape, no rips, no tears, no loose stitching. It has a kick-start which works every time. The only thing that needs a little fixing is the turn signals, probably a cheap wiring fix, but the headlight works great so it's not something that is wrong with all the electrical. Like I said the engine is 100cc, and the bike's top speed is about 65 mph, top cruising speed is about 50-55 mph. This bike is completely street legal, and would be a much better alternative to a little scooter. Make no mistake, this is a classic Yamaha motorcycle. I have the original manuals, etc. Email me with your phone number if you're interested and I'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks.

Soooo tempted.

But on that, maybe people here can suggest other old skool, small, similar looking bikes that I should be looking for.

Maybe kickstarters aren't such a good idea for a lil girl like me. But still.... they look so pretty. I'd kill for an Enfield :allears:

MotoMind
May 5, 2007

Congrats! Don't be intimidated by kickstarters, it is a huge myth that they require a lot of force. They require an even, controlled stroke more than a violent and forceful one. Your weight alone is plenty if you put it up on the kickstand and step down into the stroke. Kickstarting is nonetheless an art that requires you to divine the correct mixture when cold or hot and apply choke or sometimes a tiny bit of throttle accordingly, but that's part of the mystique.

Where do you want to ride? 100cc isn't allowed on the highway, 150cc minimum.

Sellers never fail to congratulate themselves for low mileage on early sub-250cc street bikes. In reality, these were zip around town bikes that typically never strayed into the next county. Disregard 3k on the clock as a selling point. I'd take 13k + a fanatical original owner over 3K + Johnny Clueless.

Hmmmm, smallish, retro, cute, maybe a kicker...I'm picturing a late 70s CB400T Hawk:

I'm not planning to take the new bike on the highway. I hated taking my ninja on the highway. This would be more a "scoot around town" kind of bike.

Any other kinds of bikes I should be looking for?

You're talking about a company that charges (and gets) $35 for a road atlas.

Of course the guy's delusional. It's possible in theory, but to get there I think you'd need a motor kit from Zipper's (4K) and maybe the labor to put it in. I don't see anything going on here but bolt on bling blang.

At least when I was younger (like ten years ago) you could legalize that with some turn signals, light and a speedo.

That said, if you go to the U please please please don't ride that poo poo around campus like a fuckin' moped driver. I swear once a week I almost get mowed down by some sweatpants wearing tool on a goddamn 49cc chinese shitmobile covered in retarded racing stickers cruising down a fuckin sidewalk in the middle of campus.

Somehow those people never get tickets, and yet on the flip side my buddy's chain broke on campus at 3am on his yamaha and he parked it in an out of the way corner of the sidewalk behind a building, only to come back to a nice fat parking ticket the next morning.

I'd be tempted to try kicking over anyone cutting across campus sidewalks on a moped if I ever saw it happen, but my campus is too small for that with lots of stairs.

A sumo rider going up or down the stairs I'd give a huge thumbs-up, though.:v:

Happy valve, camshaft, camchain and clutch problems. The engine design doesn't exactly over-lubricate the valve train. VF500s aren't exactly known for reliability, but to be fair, the Interceptor is the best VF.
