New WTF, DnD? for the Al-Qadim Monstrous Compendium is up.

I groaned when I saw the Buraq entry because I was worried a Buraq Hussein Obama joke was coming up. What you came up with instead was great.

There is an unnoficial "erotic monster manual". Someone took the time to write, proofread, stat balance and cross-reference a book about if an ent can assfuck an angel/dragonborn hybrid. Creepy as hell.

Wizards seems to really love WTF, D&D and they are sending me some stuff to give away for a contest. Against my better judgment I think Steve might have come up with the perfect contest concept on the last page of this article. He's wearing me down anyway.

Stay tuned for details, maybe as early as Monday.

Seriously? Wizard of the Coast is actually enjoying you guys ripping on their stuff? I love it when companies display having an actual sense of humor. Like that time Diesel did the whole work-safe porn video, inspired by the SA threads.

That said, I'm pretty excited, even if I probably won't participate in anything since I can't draw for poo poo.

It's not Wizards of the Coast stuff. It's books TSR put out years ago.

It's also probably some of the stuff the current D&D developers ripped on when they were younger or can say "yeah, it really sucked but we had a page count to meet."

Plus, absurd D&D monsters are sort of a proud tradition. There are some recent ones too (I can't believe that Krenshan are still in the game).

I haven't bought any RPGs in ten years, but I keep my 3E Monster Manual in the bathroom for reading material, and the Krenshan is one of the most absurd and stupid monsters in the book. I cannot believe it made it to later editions. Why?

Because apparently seeing something turn its face inside out is scary for first level adventurers who have probably already slogged their way through tons of zombies to get to it.

This X-Men article is great. I like that there's a story throughout the thing with lines like

quote:

Zack: The Fixer shoots at Wolverine with some darts that hit him in the chest but then Wolverine brutally maims his face, cutting off his nose. Blood is everywhere and the Fixer is screaming in pain and searching for his nose. Wolverine starts to feel tired.

Steve: "Let me help you with that I have a nose for these things" Wolverine says and stomps on his cut off nose.

Came for the constant boob-mangling, stayed for the prospector shenanigans.

Also the concept of Nightcrawler just teleporting next to a villain and shooting him point-blank with a pistol is utterly hilarious to me for some reason.

So for the art contest, it looks like we'll be doing email submissions, not a thread? That's too bad, the thread was fun last time, and it let us see all the submissions that didn't get picked.

Edit- Never mind, I'm an idiot who didn't check GBS first.

This contest is going to be so much fun. I simultaneously love and hate you for providing a convincing reason for me paint monster erotica.

A question. Is using woodgrain to represent the nipples of a treant considered going into porn terratory, or should I cover them up with modesty-preserving leaves?

...I can't belive I just had to ask that.

While it was as funny as ever, I don't think I actual learned anything about the module.

Was Father Chuck even a bad guy, or just a harmless cult leader who decided to set up shop in a haunted castle? What the hell is a decapus and why would it construct such a bizzare and pointless illusion? Is it child-endangerment if you take your three-headed child to live with you in a castle inhabited by undead? Why have so many pit traps?

Did TSR actually make money from adventure modules?

One hell of a bard. Good thing he saw through that titillating yet banned illusion! But too bad he aged away to nothing before our very eyes.

If you don't mind me saying Steve's youthful enthusiasm for rocking through dungeons gave me some Brutal Legend vibes. I honestly wish Bards were built to destroy things through sweet guitar solos instead of playing that one song that gives everyone a +1 to attacks or whatever.
