Kanna's up to bat again. ---- ---- Two Kouma and the half of the second device! Kohran takes a beating, but she's probably okay. ---- ] But she'll be fine after sucking out huge amounts of health from the device! ... or, you know, she WOULD be if 1) her attack bonuses weren't so horrible this battle, and 2) the device's defense wasn't so high. And now she is sandwiched between two Kouma. ---- ---- [Maria] Center the target... strike a pose! [Ogami] Ah- Maria, wait!! It's not glowi- ---- ---- [Maria] ... [Ogami] ... [Maria] ... [Ogami] Mari- [Maria] You saw nothing. [Ogami] But I- [Maria] I merely skipped my turn. [Ogami] Yes'm. ---- ---- Taking out the trash. ---- ---- The Kouma around Kohran are insta-gibbed, but the device, well... ---- ---- [Kohran] ... Ah guess th' device sure showed you what it thought of yer work, Sumire-han. [Sumire] Brazen device...! How dare it procreate in public, in front of our very eyes!! ---- Ogami gibs a few more Kouma, and Kanna ALMOST gets it. ---------- VIDEO ALERT! Battle, part 3! Youtube Link! ---------- Yeah... when you've blown the vast majority of your final attacks, the devices are actually pretty sturdy. ---- Kohran is... well, she's in a spot of trouble. ---- Self-healing from the Kouma works a LOT better than healing from the super-defensive device. And Maria turns Kanna's opponent into a bloody stain. --- [Maria] Hmph! Now to deal with that Kouma trying to sneak into the theater...! [Ogami] Focus on the device, Maria! [Maria] ... Captain, it's about to waltz right into the theater. [Ogami] Destroying the device comes first. [Maria] But- [Ogami] Don't worry! I've got a little surprise cooked up for the little bastard. --- ---- [Maria] Your funeral, Captain. ---- ---- Sumire's normal attack summons a phoenix! [Ogami] Great! There's only one left!! However, if you have Sakura next to you... [Ogami] ... [Ogami] NO! The enemy might be listening in! We need to destroy them all first!! [Sakura] That's true... I'm sorry. [Yoneda] You idiot! The Kouma's waltzing right into the theater!! [Maria] No! [Ogami] It's alright! I set up a trap just in case something like this happened! ---- [Maria] Captain... you actually used foresight!? [Sumire] Oh my! Perhaps the Ensign has a head for strategy after all! ---- [Kouma] Gya!! Guwaaaaaaa!! ---- [Sumire] I take back my previous remark. Actually, Ensign, give me back my scintilla of admiration. ---- [Yoneda] Moron!! Ogami, what the hell kind of messed-up trap did you INSTALL!? [Maria] Captain... please don't tell me that was your anti-Kouma trap. [Ogami] Well... um... [Yoneda] Aaargh! It can't be helped!! You just leave the intruder to us! The same trap won't work twice!! Do not, under any circumstances, let any more of them into the theater! [Kanna] Really, what were you thinking!? That kind of thing wasn't enough to even take down IRIS!! [Ogami] ... sorry. I was inspired by the production you guys put on earlier... [Sumire] To put Iris on the same level as the Kouma... that is the height of foolishness! [Iris] What!? You're making fun of Iris! Muuuuuuuuuuu-!! [Kohran] Welp, whatver. More importantly, everyone! We ain't through with these guys yet! ---- [Maria] Are you quite certain that the Commander and the theater hands can handle the Kouma on their own? Between its acid spit and those claws that can rend armor... [Kohran] It'll be a-okay! Ah thought somethin' like this would happen, so Ah got one o' my long-term projects up an' runnin' again, jes' in case. -- [???] Are you kidding me? Just a broom? ... anyway, hold it right there! [Kouma] Gwah! *SPITOOIE!* [???] Agh! Sunnova- my FACE! You got acid on my face!! [Kouma] Gwagahgah! [???] ... and it took so long to get it all built back, you son of a bitch! [Kouma] Gwah!? [???] Welp, anyway, you just waltzed right on in, didn't you? [Robo-Ogami] I'm going to need to see your ticket, sir. -- [Ogami] Why do I get the feeling that someone's grave is being walked all over? ... again? ---- [Kohran] Right, we wrecked 'em all! Now all that's left is th' head honcho! NEXT TIME: Heads will be honcho'd. Spirit Armor fucked around with this message at 00:21 on Jul 30, 2013 |

Where the hell did Ogami find a giant robot-scale washbasin? ...I guess somebody has to clean the fluids out of Iris's giant robot ribbon.

But you might want to re-check your videos and links to them, the first link is broken and the second and third have the wrong videos. (The last seems to be right.)

Yeah, the middle of the fight is missing. Great job, though. I can't wait until December to find out how the battle turned out!

Agh, yeah, I fell victim to my own video numbering scheme- I'd named the intro part 1, named part 1 part 2, and completely skipped over the actual part 2, so part 3 is correct. I swapped the links so that they lead to the right places now, but uploading part 2 / renaming Youtube thingamajigs so that I don't give myself a headache will have to wait 'til tomorrow. Also, I'm eating my own shoes if the next update comes in freaking December.

Yay, update! I hated this battle in the PSP version, took forever to get to all the devices, and I had two kouma slip into the theater...I got yelled at but I was still able to finish the battle.

Ah, a heapin' helping of Sakura Wars. This ought to tide me over for another six months. Where's the wash bin gag come from though? I've seen it done a couple of times in Japanese media.

Heh, was playing ST 5 (AKA "Odd American Stereotypes on Parade!") recently trying to finish it up, and it's funny how little the interface has changed over the series; I could follow along with absolutely everything in the videos with zero Japanese reading ability. Granted the interface WORKS well, I just find it humorous that they're so similar right down to sound effects and exact button position. Ain't broke, don't fix it I guess.

Just wish I could finish SW5; getting stuck on the near-end fight where you escort the airship up in altitude; bombs out the wazoo and opponents cheerfully ganging up on my people. I hadn't THOUGHT I was bad at the game, but man I suck at this one. Hmm, I'd think that last one would be a recipe for horrific painful suicide by pissed off Russian. Oh, and drat your eyes, of course.

It also works pretty well to put Shinjiro and his partner on the main body of the ship, and split the remaining four into two sets of partners that defend each side, focusing only on the bombs and just ignoring the attacks of the non-bomb guys. Joint moves in flight mode can have a ridiculously large attack radius that can take out most of the bombs pretty quickly. That fight sure is a pain, though.

Sweet, especially since my real issue has been with two girls per side the enemies gang up on 'em and take one out. Being able to angle joint attacks enough with just two also got iffy. In the air anyway; Shinjiro + partner were easily slaughtering on the ship itself (helps the enemy is stupid enough to group up for an easy joint attack splattering).

I can deal with painfully cheesy sterotypes, that one girl's rediculously exaggerated Texan/cowgirl accent though I'm not sure. Suppose I could always do some code fuckery to change the language if it's not already a feature.

Whoo, got through all 130 pages. It was funny seeing people talk about going through 30/50/80/100 pages and knowing that I still had so much further to go but I got there in the end. That said I do have some advice for the guys going through all 160 pages after the thread is done. Yeah listen up because I'm only going to say this once - HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW. Anyway really great LP. Translating everything must be ton of work and showing off the major branching paths is really going above and beyond the call of duty. Also I've really enjoyed your additions even though I don't normally go for that stuff. I have to say you must be INSANE if you're still planning on doing the entire series. Sure it'll be for the benefit of mankind, but 30 years LPing? My god.

If it's any consolation, you CAN turn off speech altogether and just read everything in the Wii version; won't lose any dialogue, it's all subtitled anyway to begin with. Not much help if you want to hear the Japanese version, but if the voice work on the English one makes your ears bleed that's fixable at least.
