It's one of the only panels on the car that wasn't severely damaged in the accident. I was unbelievably lucky. I unlocked and opened my own door, and was able to walk away under my own power. I suffered a couple bruised ribs, a little whiplash, and some minor cuts/bruises from the glass and airbag impacts... and that's it. You are beyond lucky to have not only survived that, but to have literally walked away from it. I'm assuming you were the only person in the vehicle at the time or this would probably have been a much more somber post.

He didn't even slow down. A big white truck filled with flowers and happiness stopped to help. An 18-wheeler also slowed down to see if I was OK, and I waved him on after I checked to see if everything was still working.

Nah, the cops were cool- I explained what happened, they took a statement. NJ is a no-fault state, so insurance is covering it.

JerseyDevil, I think your post is a pretty good advertisment for Honda safety. Had that happened to me in my '88 Prelude, I would be very dead. I think a passenger would have survived, though with a broken arm / leg / something as was suggested. Modern cars are much, much safer than even 10 or 15-year old cars. Glad to hear you're OK. When will you get the Accord?

The side airbag didn't deploy, because there was no one in the seat. They have a sensor built in that tells the bag whether or not to deploy. I didn't take that into account. I'm hoping to get the Accord sometime this week, but I have no specific timeline as of yet. The dealer may have to order it. Expect a few pictures of the updated ride! I went back and made my original post a little more politically correct, for those of you who, I guess, can't handle anything beyond the scope of a PG-13 movie. For the record, racism requires that I think less of a specific people, or that one people is superior than another, which I don't. I would have given exactly zero fucks if the guy came out of the truck and said "llamando a la policia," or whatever the hell it is, rather than "I'm calling the police." My roommates through college were Puerto Rican, African American, and Chinese, respectively. Make of that what you will. Fake Edit: Maybe I'll buy a white car instead of a black one now. Less turbo lag and a slightly earlier surge of torque are probably the main advantages over the Aero, but on the other hand it'll still have less out-right grunt overall. Other than performance though, the CSE is basically an Aero without the seats and moulded bumpers and with softer, higher-sitting suspension. They're much less likely to have been raped too. At the end of the day, you'll still enjoy a CSE for a lot of the same qualities as the Aero. But with less torque steer
