Avatar is finally coming out in 3D!

You just have to buy a Panasonic TV.

quote:

'Avatar - 3D' Blu-ray Panasonic Exclusive in December

Those who have or are planning to purchase any Panasonic Viera Full HD 3D TV will be heading to Pandora in the third dimension!

Beginning December 1, James Cameron's 'Avatar - 3D' will be available as part of a Panasonic 3D Ultimate Pack (which includes the Blu-ray 3D and two pairs of Panasonic 3D eyeglasses) as a bonus with the purchase of any Panasonic Viera Full HD 3D TV!

Anyone who purchases a qualifying TV prior to December 1 will still be able to receive the movie through the Viera 3D TV Loyalty Program by mailing in a copy of the receipt with the disc request form which will be available at Panasonic.com starting December 1.
I honestly wonder if there's any sales data to suggest that these exclusives are helping push 3D by incentivizing TV purchases. It seems like it could just as easily be hurting the format by locking consumers out of most 3D movies unless they purchase multiple TVs. Both electronics manufacturers and movie studios could be shooting themselves in the feet.

When there's something like 10-15 movies available in 3D and some of them are locked to specific brands, I don't know why ANYONE would want to jump in right now. I mean, people were hesitant about getting into HD when it was between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, and that had far more content and a cheaper initial purchase.

Highly doubt it. It's priced the same as their other digibook releases, so it's not llike you're paying extra for all the useless crap anyway.

Well I finally got to experience the Back to the Future packaging. I ended up just snapping off the spring tabs so the disc just pops in and out without having to press down. I felt like an idiot trying to figure out how to put the disc back in.

Edit: Huh, according to the PDF Universal sent me you're suppose to push down on the tabs with your thumb and pinkie and the disc slides out.

I find it hilarious that companies are playing hard to get with their 3d releases as if 3d is some coveted tech where everybody is falling over each other to get one.

Also, Romeo + Juliet:

They send you factory-sealed Blu-Rays, no different from what you'd buy in a store. Turnaround typically ranges from a couple weeks to a month.

$8 coupon for the Toy Story 3 combo pack (should be active tomorrow):

http://www.toystorycoupon.com/

Most stores will have the regular edition for $20 and the combo pack for $25. Depending on the attentiveness of your cashier they might accept the coupon for the regular edition instead of the combo pack (it's worked for all of the previous coupons), netting you the BD for $12 + tax.

This.

The only movies I'd be interested in would be Eyes Wide Shut or Pan's Labyrinth.

So, you have to figure in:

- $4.95 to $6.95 for the Blu-Ray
- $4.95 for Shipping
- The cost of a mailer for the DVD
- The cost to mail out that DVD

And you only get free shipping from the website if you order at LEAST six of the $6.95 Blu-Rays.

I just trade in my old DVDs at MovieStop for new BD releases, and I don't have to wait a month for the new flick.
