Yeah but it looks more a case of the trailer's colours being really over-saturated rather than the BluRay's being dimmed.

If all of the Scott Pilgrim screenshots I've seen so far take place in clubs, and that one from a party, being darker would seem to make more sense. If I remember correctly most of the filming here in Toronto took place at night during the winter. I haven't seen the movie yet, so what do I know.

A question for someone who has seen Alice In Wonderland or Clash of the Titans in 3d in theaters. Does the 3d only appear at certain intervals and on particular objects in the films, or does the entire picture have depth to it like Avatar, but it just looks wrong? What looks off about the 3d? I didn't get a chance to see either of these during their theatrical release.
I saw Clash of the Titans and Piranha 3D, both of which were conversions. I felt like the effect worked passively, as in when I wasn't paying too much attention. If you look closely, though, the edges of people and objects look odd. You also start to notice that there's a depth difference between, say, an actor and the background, but the actor himself will look flat, kind of like a cardboard cut-out. Everything's just in layers like a pop-up book. The 3D didn't really add anything to either of those movies. On the other hand, I saw the 3D conversion of The Nightmare Before Christmas a few years ago and thought it looked terrific. It might have been a better conversion or maybe you just don't notice the flaws as easily with stop action characters.

I doubt it, and aside from reducing the number of discs and maybe having some features similar to Generation Kill (where they list all the characters, have maps or explain lingo) I don't think visually there's much of a need to upgrade. I picked up the set on eBay for cheap and honestly wouldn't have minded paying full price for it either.

Blah, there was no reason for them to crop it besides trying to get the idiot "it's not filling my screen" crowd and the only real thing they accomplished was alienating the crowd that was going to buy it (because the dumbbells who like to have their screen filled would also think that this was shot "before" HD). They should have just released it in the native aspect ratio.
