Anyone subscribed to Hodgman's Today In The Past podcast now has the first episode of his new one: Judge John Hodgman (the ep is Chili: Soup or Stew?).

Good stuff, but this thread has kind of developed into 'let's discuss new episodes of the same 2/3 podcasts'.

Whoever suggested The Podcast Eating Contest, thank you so much for that. :)

This has been a solid addition to my stable of podcasts. Even if it's just a few guys loving around, they make a pretty entertaining show.

This week's UYD and Seth discussing his sobriety is at the same time disturbing and goddamn hilarious. He's touched upon it a few times before (the few glimpses we get into his crazy life) but this week he really went into it... kinda.

Quoted from pages and pages ago but I just got around to listening to ep 166, where Seth talks about a guy he saw in a liquor store the other day :tinfoil:. slowly uncovering information about Seth's life is the best part of the podcast.

They're actually super high level improvisors. I used to see them do Harolds at the UCB NY back in the early 2000's. They've been a team forever. I think in that setting they like to get silly and pun-y.

I've been going through the Ricky Gervais Show podcasts again, and as good as the 97% with Karl is, the random awkward stories of Stephen's life crack me up, like him going to Vietnam and people pointing and laughing at him.

In the Guide To episodes, Karl proves that he's not a complete idiot, he's just really really good at making Ricky extremely angry, or laugh really hard.

edit: I've never heard the Guide To The World Cup before today, and dammit Karl talking about how he was sitting in his garden with his head down and dripping drool seeing if he would run out for 15 minutes is probably the funniest drat mental image ever.

The Guide to... series was a really nice format. We all miss Monkey News and everything, but it had more meat. Like an expanding Education Karl (even though Educating Ricky was far superior).

Gigantic University. On Mondays I have the office to myself so sometimes I record there. The only issue is that my office has a giant panel that I have to leave open so people are walking by and they can look in and ask me questions about where the bathroom is or pick up poo poo they've reserved.

In other news I did the VO for this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mT2eSqdCTM and I have a session booked in an hour record for Cuisinart. :woop:

Ah, ok, that's a better description of it and I might just check it out. I guess The Podcast Eating Contest is UYD-esque and I love the hell out of that (SOMEONE GET THEM TO STOP GURGLE BURPING INTO THE MIC!).

I find YLNT completely unlistenable just because they play that transition riff incessantly. It's like with Adam Carolla and the smoke alarm, I know it's coming every 3-5 minutes so it's all I can focus on.

Jesse Thorn is the host of The Sound of Young America and also Jordan Jesse Go! JJG is more of a side project. TSOYA has gone from interesting podcast to Public Radio show. Jordan Jesse Go! is only entertaining if you REALLY like Jesse and like to hear him prattle on and on about stuff. Especially his love of hip hop and his scorning of people over the age of 30. (That was a while ago. He may actually be 30 now himself) Jordan Morris is a TV personality on the Fuse network (if that still exists) and can be funny. I used to really like JJG but I stopped listening after a while.

Also I'd like to chime in and say that the WTF with Adam McKay was enlightening. I love to hear how people found their way to comedy super-stardom.
