I find this discussion incredibly bland and disinteresting.
Sorry for the crappy MS-Paint illustration, but it's all I've got.

In the above picture, the light-grey axis is what the wheel is spinning about, but the red dot/line is its center of gravity. The dark-grey half-circle is made out of something relatively heavy. When it spins, inertia wants to keep it fairly steady about its center of gravity, but it's forced to spin about the light grey axis. It compromises, and shoves the axis in the opposite direction that the wheel's mass shifts. The axis is in turn anchored to the body of your cell phone or your mom's vibrator, which causes that to move in tiny circles opposite the direction that the wheel is spinning.

This is a bad question, as with any group of "hipsters" you encounter, you'll invariably find one with more knowledge of something than you.

Here's a question about Android and tablets from someone with no knowledge of either firsthand, I guess it's a little about Google Voice too which I have a little knowledge of.

I'm looking into getting a cheapy Android 2.1/2.2 tablet for around the house browsing/reading and whatnot. I notice some offer built-in mics and I remember mention of the Google Voice app being an obvious for Android phones. Is there any reason to have it on a wifi tablet? Is there some sort of trickery I can use to maybe daisy chain gvoice and skype into free/cheap VOIP from the tablet or something?

I've used Google voice in conjunction with my non-smartphone as a voicemail archive and telemarketer screener, but I'm not getting if the "app" version actually handles calls like GTalks voice/video chat or just routes them?

Check your temp. Do you have a fever? Cold chills? If so, its probably best to go see a doctor.

If you don't have a fever, in most cases you'll have to wait it out, but to be sure (and if you're pretty miserable) go to the ER and they'll give you an anti-nausea for it. In all the cases where I thought I had food poisoning I just had a stomach bug that only lasted 24-48 hours. Usually your first thought when you start vomiting is that it must have been something you ate.

I'm not a doctor though, so take it anecdotally and go see a doctor if its bad.

I also have a question:

I'm looking to start reading some Jack Kerouac. Can anyone guide me to some of his best works/a good first read?

There are a lot of free market capitalist and anarchist hipsters, but a hipster group will almost never be made up of more than 12% of people who actively pretend to be for any ideology non-ironically.

They eat anything. Probably a mix of small fish, worms, and vegetable matter would be what they normally eat but you could give it some lettuce or baby mice. Maybe a tuna sandwich.
5 x 4 is fine as long as you are providing food for it, otherwise there won't be much for it to eat.
Snapping turtle is delicious, by the way.

Broke my pelvis and both my feet a little less than a month ago. They've given me these boots to keep my tendon flexed so I don't get drop foot, and they're uncomfortable but better than the alternative.

Since returning home from the hospital, I was able to sleep alright, even though i did have to wake up to roll over. Now, I can't sleep. It's horrible.

I thought it was the boots, so I got permission from my PT to sleep without them as long as I promised to flex extra much and always wear the boots during the day. While removing the boots has helped, I still am barely pulling in 5 hours a night, and it's all broken up into one-or-two-hour chunks. It's horrible.

Last night I awoke absolutely drenched in sweat. I was using an electric blanket (gotta stay with my parents for now, their house is goddamn freezing) and the tempurature felt totally comfortable, I had no idea why I sweat so much. Soaked my pjs, sheets, pillow, had to wake my parents up for a towel so I didn't freeze when my skin touched the air.

This isn't normal for me. Normally I can sleep pretty well. First I figured it's just my body healing, getting back to normal, not being all drugged. But this all started right as I stopped using the prescription meds the doctor gave me, Norco. I've been on the meds since the 7th or 8th of last month, and just stopped using them a few days ago.

...Am I going through withrdawal, or am I just unable to sleep due to the fact that I am unable to burn much energy during the day? At night I'm fidgety, restless, unable to get comfortable, unable to find a good temperature, and always waking up miserable and unable to fall asleep again for hours.

I guess my question is, am I going through withdrawal? If not, are there any remedies for night sweats for people not going through any hormonal imbalances? I'm at my wit's end, I can't keep this up for very long.

Norco is just hydrocodone IIRC, and sweating profusely at night is most definitely a withdrawal symptom, as are all the other things you describe.

Your doctor should've reduced your dose gradually instead of stopping you cold turkey. Ask him WTF.

I slept without the boot. It felt really uncomfortable to have my foot just dangling, so I propped my foot upright with some pillows at the foot of my bed. I slept like this for six months. It wasn't comfortable, but it was the best I could do.

To answer your larger question, my body was seriously hosed up for a long time. The circulation in my body was erratic, which meant sometimes I was cold and sometimes sweating hot within an hour without the temperature having changed at all. To this day (6 years after) my left leg is always much colder than the right.

I didn't take any meds, so I can't answer that part of your story, but as far as I know it is perfectly normal for your temperature to swing wildly. There might not be anything you can do about it, I don't know since I didn't ask the doctor.

I'm not sure where to put this so I figured here would be best. We have Comcast for internet and tv, we download a lot of stuff. Comcast has a data usage meter on their website. I checked it today, haven't looked at it in several months, apparently we went over the 250GB limit for the past two months. I can't view any other previous months. My brother and I are both stunned from this, we didn't think we downloaded that much. We've never gotten any notice about going over the limit.

The thing is though, the new data cycle started today, yet the system already says that we downloaded 48GB. I haven't downloaded anything, my brother did a little bit like 3GBs worth. Our connection is 1.5MBps at best. It would take us atleast 9 straight hours of downloading at 1.5MBps to do that. How on earth did it hit 48GB that fast?

We don't play a lot of online games, we don't do server hosting stuff. We do have wifi but the router doesn't show any other devices attached, going to change the password. I went through my list of stuff I downloaded, overestimating it I'd say like 75GB in october, my brother did about 80GB. According to comcast, our internet usage was 350GB.

I don't get how someone could stealing bandwidth from us, if they were downloading/uploading our speeds would suffer too.

Anyone know of a program that can monitor the network traffic?

Many routers support logging traffic, and if yours doesn't you can probably install DD-WRT which will. You need to be logging at the router level, not on an individual computer.

Are you just downloading or are your torrenting? That meter is for both directions of traffic.

(a big YMMV) I go over every month and haven't heard a peep. Although I'd tell them to eat a dick if they did since I was like the first residential customer for cable here and have every single service they offer.

From what I hear the process goes like this: You go over and they call you and basically try to upsell you into some long contract for business service.

If you're worried about it just get the basic business class service which isn't more than +10-20 per month IIRC.

Purely downloading, no uploading. I'm not worried about them calling or disconnecting us. Just freaked me out seeing that much downloading going on. I still don't know how it got that high, unless someone could somehow connect to the network, stay hidden from the attached devices and keep downloading.

Then don't worry about it. The 250 gigabyte cap is a "soft" cap - it does not apply to everyone at all times. If you've been going over for months, and having received a notice, it's because Comcast doesn't care if you go over the cap in your location.

I also have Comcast and have been going over 250 gb every month since April, no problems.
