Kanye West Springs A Leak

Kanye West’s new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, has hit the internet in a way that the rapper probably isn’t pleased with.

The version of the opus in circulation is a clean version with no profanity.

I hear from various pop culture sources that Kanye West is some kind of megalomaniacal huge douche but this Runaway track linked in the OP is quite exquisite and I generally don't care about the personality of the man who made my dinner so who gives a toss.

Don't know if the lyrics ruin it, I have extreme difficulty following English lyrics. If I were unwilling to give money to someone who isn't entirely likable I'd have to find somewhere to live where there ain't no government at all and I don't think I'd much like it.

edit: Im in deep central Europe, so what I know about Kanye is based entirely on south park, various other tv shows probably and youtube videos of where he acted like a pissant at that award ceremony. \/ \/ \/

Lyrics to Blame Game

quote:

You weren’t perfect but you made life worth it
Stick around, some real feelings might surface
Been a long time since I spoke to you in a bathroom gripping you up and choking you
What the hell was I supposed to do
I know you ain’t getting this type of dick from that local dude
And if you are I hope you are have a good time
Cause I’ll definitely be having mine

And you ain’t finna see a mogul get emotional
Every time I hear bout other nigga’s stroking you
Might say I hit you
He sitting there consoling you
Rubbing my name through the mud
Who’s provoking you
You should be grateful a nigga like me ever noticed you
Now you noticeable and can’t nobody get control of you
1 AM and can’t nobody get a hold of you
I’m calling your brother’s phone like what was I supposed to do
Even though I knew, he never told the truth
He was just gon’ say whatever you gon’ told him to
At a certain point I had to stop asking questions
Ya’ll got dirt on each other like mud wrestlers
I heard he bought some coke with my money
That ain’t right girl
You getting blackmailed for that white girl
You always said “Yeezy, I aint you’re right girl”
“Probably find one of them ‘I like art’ type girls”
All of the lights, she was caught in the hype girl
And I was satisfied being in love with the lie
And who to blame, you to blame, me to blame
For the pain and it poured every time it rained

Well I was attempting to avoid the Chris Rock ending spoiler if anyone was saving themselves til the actual album came out.

I honestly like the outro after a couple listens. It's like a skit from CD or LR except well executed.

He was on the album's Wiki on the list of collaborators when I checked yesterday. Although I just checked, and that list has been removed :(

There was somebody else that I remember being surprised to see on there, but I can't remember who and I can't check it now.

You must be a masochist
For those interested, Pitchfork (and, I assume, nbc.com) have video of the Matt Lauer interview that Kanye was referring to. It's pretty obvious with the Bush clip that they're trying to spike up Kanye's emotions, and he calls them on it. In general, though, nothing really unusual about NBC's tactics, though that may be more of an indictment of modern television news as a whole.

The REAL Goobusters

Wow Matt Lauer obviously does not care and went all the way even showing Kanye's tweets. Well that sucks for Kanye, good on him that he called them out on it.

It was pretty hosed up how he kept trying to put words in Kanye's mouth and make him say something else. You could see Kanye was really trying hard to put the right words together so no one could take them out of context or spin them and Matt just kept pressing. Pretty rude to treat a guest that way.

I do think Kanye blew up a bit about the video clip thing, it's something they always do and if he really didn't want them to play it he could have probably just had his publicist or manager ask them not to.

This is true, but I think his irritation was a reasonably acceptable result of the prior part of the interview where Lauer was constantly trying to manipulate him into saying something stupid or controversial. It's just like he's had enough, doesn't want to be there, and he snaps.

So near the end of Blame Game, Kanye does a bit of spoken word and says "Chloe Mitchell", which turns out to be a relatively unknown black female poet who wrote the bit. Kanye is always fascinating in who he chooses to work with.

For me, this is the first Kanye West album where I have not skipped a single track. I knew it was going to be good but I had no idea it would be this perfect.

Also this is the first time I have heard Nicki Minaj and my god is she a monster. The change of voices mid song are incredible, is this typically her style?

Yeah, she is seriously nuts and I love how varied her delivery is. Some songs she plays it straight, but she'll do voice changes like that in others.

I love this album and for me it's the best thing he's done since CD and LR, but I have real mixed feelings about Blame Game. I felt like the Chris Rock part is one of those 'funny once, don't wanna sit through it twice' things, y'know. I'm also surprised 'See Me Now' didn't make it to the final tracklist - seemed like it would have been a huge song with a little bit of editing for song length.

I also love what he did with 'Devil In A New Dress', I think that went from being an eh Good Friday track to being a highlight of the album

I don't wanna get spergy about Kanye like I am constantly doing in this thread, but IMO it carries some pretty powerful emotion considering it's supposed to be from the perspective of Kanye listening to the conversation over the phone. I think it's well executed and not grating like the CD/LR skits.

Oh and also Blame Game is a metaphor for the music industry.
