I don't believe "I'm finished" is a reference to his demise, but a declaration of accomplishment. He's beaten his one true rival for good. He's taken everything he possibly can. He's satisfied. He says "I'm finished" in such a way that he could be referring to his plate of dinner.

Two questions. The first I may have already asked here before, but I forgot if it was answered or not. 1.) Is the Blu-ray edition of The Return of the Living Dead the same exact neutered version as the MGM DVD with the shortened and/or absent songs and Tarman's re-recorded voice (along with a couple of other zombies ie. "Send more cops.")? My sister wanted to buy the Blu-ray, but I told her to wait until I had proof it's the same as the DVD. 2.) What is the exact name and artist of the old-timey song that plays on the victrola in the basement and is used in the end credits of The Evil Dead? Most sources say it's "Charleston" without knowing the artist, but it sounds different than the Charleston I know. This is obviously a newer recording of it, but it still says "Charleston." Help a brotha' out. Edit: If I'd just read the YouTube summary, I'd find out it is a stock library track called "Charleston" by Erik Markman. Doy. I'm on a similar track to yours, but he's finished in that everything about which he cared, good or bad, is gone or dead. He's alienated his son, he's achieved all that he could financially, and he's killed his enemy - there is just nothing left for him. Whether he goes to prison (or hangs), or buys his way out is immaterial - his life is effectively over. He has nothing left to live for, no love, or hate, to sustain him. He's finished. Plus he's drunk all the milkshake.

I remember seeing it in some documentary or behind-the-scenes footage of them and being blown away, but can't recall where I saw it.

I remember reading about how the New Line Cinema logo was very clever, but I didn't really understand the terms used to describe why it was so clever. Something to do with a split audio track or something like that. Can somebody explain to a layman what the symbolism of their logo is?

So unless you're into cheesy b-movies you're not going to find anything super interesting. The TV show selection is ok, but not really anything current. A lot of the characters do have a scene like that, where they've hit absolute rock bottom, and Buck is lucky because he's allowed a way out, as ugly as it is. Most of the others have to find solace in the family they've had to create amongst themselves. The only other characters who have an "out" are the couple who are married and move to Bakersfield about halfway through the film (possibly later), and in the original cut even that goes to hell (he beats her, she runs away).

Not like I'm white-knighting them, but with the dominance Bell/Rogers have in this country and with different countries requiring different rights and licensing agreements, it's not as easy as Netflix clicking on the "Make Available in Canada" toggle button on their entire American catalogue.

All of this comes from his afterword to the book, which I scanned through at the grocery store after a friend of mine read the book. What's hilarious to me is that it never seems to occur to him that the plot is being made fun of.

Someone who seemed to know what they were talking about said that many American studios have ridiculous licensing fees for Canada as a pressure tactic on the government due to Canada's loose piracy laws.
