Anyone keen to spend $20k on a 1000lbs lego collection? http://cgi.ebay.com/Huge-Lego-Collection-Lot-1000-lbs-over-2300-figures-/270661733387?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f04b24c0b

Apparently not, since this is the second time he's listed it and no-one's made an offer. $20 per pound doesn't strike me as a great bargain for a bulk lot, though I guess if the storage is included that makes a difference. I'm sure if he'd split it out into more manageable lots he would have sold it.

Yeah, 20k is a lot to spend on Lego. I'm sure most people would be happy to take X off his hands, but that would require a lot of time and effort on his part.

I made this ages ago in an older version of the digital designer, thought it was pretty good until I saw all the awesome MOCs in this thread. I guess it's some sort of mobile command centre, I liked the paramilitary style minifigs.

LOL, trailers are a horrible place for storing valuable things: "lets pack up everything in a package on wheels that unscrupulous characters can just back up into and steal"

My last two evenings have been utterly annihilated by LDD. I'm currently working on an anchor handling tug slash offshore supply vessel. I've modelled to the waterline but I want to do one more deck below to include the engines, rudders and props. I also need to contour the hull a bit so it's still a work in progress. I just finished up what is basically my take on the Terran SCV from Starcraft, though this one is a zero-gravity specialist: Click for flickr set! It also, interestingly enough, fits pretty much all the criteria for a kosher Vic Viper build, though I'm not sure whether or not I should submit this for Novvember. If I wanted to buy a Lego house what would a good option be? It doesn't have to be huge, should preferably be in a middle price range. I've been out of the Lego game for so long I don't know anything anymore.

Ok, here's something strange: http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/bab/2064743205.html This guy claims to have S3 figures. I e-mailed him, and he said he got them from his local Fred Meyer (or Feed Meter, as his blackberry's autocorrection decided on). These things aren't due out until January, and it generally takes a good month after they're seen in Europe before they start showing up in the Pacific Northwest. I went to the nearest two Fred Meyers today, but didn't see them or any spot for them, in Toys, Collectibles, or Seasonal (where they had the S1 figures during Back to School). The pics aren't great, but they look legit, so keep your eyes open!

Oh here's some confirmation on that Series 3 in the Seattle Fred Meyer thing, from some guy on a site called Toys N Bricks: Also, series 4 rumors be flyin'. This site has some Dutch text that translates roughly to: "The Monster, Surfing Girl, Sailor, Kimono Girl (Geisha?), Punk, Viking, Speed Skater, Hockey Player, Skateboarder, Man in Safety Suit (???), Musketeer, Werewolf, Artist, Mad Professor, Football Player and Garden Gnome."

Speed Skater should be Ice Skater, otherwise a perfectly fine translation.

That's awesome about the Series 3 figs. I will start keeping an eye out on the east coast. In other new set news, I got these from the Lego Store today:

And I bet they show up on Ebay/Craigslist/Bricklink for $5 apiece. Edit-- Ok, turns out the guy isn't a scalper, he's a minifig whore. He gave a talk at Brickcon about the collector figs, and he pretty much can't help himself. He bought them all for himself (with some trickle-down for his kids). And they (the guy in the picture isn't the whore) bought 660 figs, with the pictured guy taking 4 boxes and the whore the rest. Still. Leave some for the rest of us! I gotta say, I don't get the whole craze for minifigs. I mean yeah some of the ones in those sets are cool, but to me all that falls by the wayside once people want five bucks a piece for them. To me, the real fun in Lego is in the bricks and building things, not in the figures.

The minifigs are just fun because there's a limited supply of them and because you never know which one you're gonna get. Plus they help add variety and novelty to builds in a way a lot of the regular minifigs don't.

I've gotten burned out with the minifigs. I spent way too much on them to end up with 1 full series with tons of extra minifigs I don't want and another series that is incomplete with even more extra figs. It doesn't help that it seems each store that has them only gets 1 box at a time and sells out virtually instantly. Sure, there's a few from series 3 that I'd like, but I'm only going to buy them if I come across them in a store. It's people like that in the pic Carbohydrates that ruin these things for everyone else. It was ridiculous when TRU was charging $3 a pop, but at those scalpers' prices, forget it.
