Don't forget that the Lethal Weapon Collection is coming out tomorrow in the UK. The whole series has been remastered and is presented region free/uncut (woot!!). Costs about $50 shipped to import ($12.50 per movie aint bad). No US release planned as of now. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lethal-Weapon-1-4-Blu-ray-Gibson/dp/B003V1YHFE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1289757274&sr=8-1

Does anyone want to sell me their Korean Thirst blu-ray? It's so expensive On k2dvd there seems to be a 1-disc version and a 3-disc version, with the 3-disc being cheaper. Is it completely different packaging or what? Edit: Nevermind, the 3-disc is just the DVD copy. Jesus.

The CJ Blu-Rays are pricey, but worth every penny. Except for Arahan, which I spent nearly 40 goddamn dollars on only to find out there's a significant authoring error that causes the subtitles to be out of sync with the dialog.

My hand keeps reaching for my wallet under its own power. Along the same line, I think you mentioned the Tartan "I'm a Cyborg..." disc a while back. It's pretty cheap on amazon.co.uk, but I'm assuming I wouldn't be able to watch the special features without a region-free player. Still, it's probably worth it.

Yeah, unfortunately the special features on that disc are standard definition and PAL, but otherwise it's marvelous - one of the cleanest transfers I've seen on BD (I guess "transfer" doesn't technically apply since it was shot digitally but you know what I mean). http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDReviews42/im_a_cyborg_but_thats_okay_blu-ray.htm

Awesome, I've wanted to see more of Jodorowsky's films. I wonder when Anchor Bay is going to put out El Topo and The Holy Mountain. They both had 2K restorations prior to the DVD releases.

Santa Sangre is my favorite Jodorowsky... I don't like it enough to buy it, but I'll definitely Netflix it to see it again.

Good news on the 3D front: the previously hardware-exclusive Coraline is coming to retail January 4. I thought the 3D looked great in the theater so it'll be nice to pick this up and finally have a good demo disc. Also of interest to anyone looking to get into 3D or who would just like to get a new player for cheap: Disney is offering a 3D-capable Sony Blu-ray player for $59.99 (70 percent off) with the purchase of five movies. These include titles like Fantasia, Beauty & the Beast and several Pixar titles.

Neither of which were listed in the offer details.

FYI for those of you who might be in the market for a blu-ray player, i bought an LG BD570 from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/LG-BD570-Network-Blu-ray-Player/dp/B0036WT1RW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1289835575&sr=8-1) and i like it so far. I've only watched one movie (Scott Pilgrim) but i've used the Pandora option a lot and have streamed some youtube videos on it with no problem. The only thing i don't like about it so far is that while it is wireless and supports 802.11n, it only supports the 2.4ghz frequency. I had to set my router back to that instead of the less-cluttered 5ghz one. Oh it also found an update and it took forever to download it (40 megs or so) and failed a few times having to start over. At one point i went to LG's website and downloaded the update and threw it on a thumbdrive, didn't get to test this update method as the wireless download one worked before i could try (of course) but i'm guessing you have to turn wifi off to get it to check a thumbdrive since i couldn't figure out a way to manually tell it "hey stupid don't use the wifi, use the usb port".

The way the discs are stored is a little strange (though ultimately very secure), but on the whole this is one of the best (if not the single best) packages for an individual film on Blu-Ray.

Kino's release of Metropolis has been delayed a week quote:The date change is probably related to an issue with region coding: this Blu-ray was supposed to be locked to region A, just like Eureka's Masters of Cinema release will be locked to region B. However, due to a miscommunication, the first pressing of Kino's release was not region coded. Kino Video has admitted the error and assured that future pressings will be region-A locked. The one-week delay will make it possible to issue correct discs from day one. ------ Amazon dropped the prices on some boxsets. If Amazon's TV & Movies fan page gets 50,000 likes by Thanksgiving, they're running a 4-hour Black Friday Lightning Deal with Mad Men seasons 1-3 on DVD for $7.99 or Blu-Ray for $9.99 I know a bunch of you would probably take advantage of this deal, so I'm spreading it here in hopes they can hit the 50,000 mark.

It's really awkward getting the discs in and out and the flaps keep catching on the "sleeves". Alien Anthology-style packaging would've been way better.
