As far as I can remember they promised to release video after the first one, but I haven't seen anything yet. Besides, I don't really like the live shows. They don't seem very comfortable with an audience to me, a bit restrained, if you will. Morever, the crowd is annoying, as are UYD fans usually (just browse their forums, jeez...) it seems. I wish the video podcast would return though, their physical reactions to things are fantastic.

CharlesWillisMaddox posted:The new Nerdist podcast is out with Kevin Pollak, and from the description Matt and Jonah aren't in it. I don't mind them, but the ones with just Chris/Guest are the best. I also can't tell the difference between Chris and Matt most of the time. Hardwick tends to rear end kiss and sperg about his guests a lot when he is flying solo for the podcast. Jonah is actually legitimately funny and contributes a lot to the show. The interactions between him and Chris bring a lot of the funnier parts to the podcast. Matt is just their technical guy that Chris met at the Apple store who shares a similar interest in the same things Chris does. He has it pretty easy being able to schmooze with the guests while his only claim to fame is being a Genius Bar tech that can fix their Apple stuff. His quips he pipes in with are not really funny or entertaining and I'd wish they'd keep him the in background to handle the audio/tech side of things. Heck even in this latest episode they talk about how Chris gave Matt the podcast audio equipment and he left it in his car overnight where it was stolen.

I don't think it'll end too well. It was kind of a boring interview on Nerdist, but I actually don't think that was Pollak's fault, so much as it was just a "podcast shop talk" episode. Which is never an interesting topic for discussion, in my opinion.

It is hosted by an insane cocaine and Adderal addict and regularly co-hosted by the poorest stand up comic in Chicago (though hopefully his new CD changes this). (by the way, notice that I'm not recommending it. Jay and Silent Bob Get Old has been a really good listen so far. The first 8 episodes or so are all about the story of Jason Mewes and his addiction problems, which he's told before on his blog. It's a crazy tale and Kevin Smith is a really good storyteller. I'm just starting in on the newer episodes so I'm not quite sure how the content is going to be from here, but if you've ever read "Me and My Shadow" and liked it, definitely give the earlier shows a listen.

SICK AND WRONG Two guys in the Bay Area (one of whom is kinda nerdy, but isn't really ) discuss gross stories and make observations/comments about them. Sometimes these comments are funny, but sometimes they veer pretty heavy into the good 'ol racism/sexism/"political incorrectness" etc area. Then they respond to the calls and e-mails of their regular fanbase, who call in with stories about sexual encounters gone wrong/disgusting medical mishaps/opinions on whatever idiot slapfight the hosts are having. If you want to see what said regular fanbase looks like, this is their official forum. Sometimes they have their moments (their hypothetical Fred Phelps memorial service and the dentist story from the same episode, I think 231? are pretty good), but it's really not that revolutionary or fantastic. If nothing else, it's interesting background noise. e: realized three days late that there should be some NWS links on the forum link, not like anyone should ever go there.
