There's footage of the second one on YouTube, but that's the only one I've seen - and it's pretty crappy.

Besides, I don't really like the live shows. They don't seem very comfortable with an audience to me, a bit restrained, if you will. Morever, the crowd is annoying, as are UYD fans usually (just browse their forums, jeez...) it seems. I wish the video podcast would return though, their physical reactions to things are fantastic.

The new Nerdist podcast is out with Kevin Pollak, and from the description Matt and Jonah aren't in it. I don't mind them, but the ones with just Chris/Guest are the best. I also can't tell the difference between Chris and Matt most of the time.

Hardwick tends to rear end kiss and sperg about his guests a lot when he is flying solo for the podcast. Jonah is actually legitimately funny and contributes a lot to the show. The interactions between him and Chris bring a lot of the funnier parts to the podcast.

Matt is just their technical guy that Chris met at the Apple store who shares a similar interest in the same things Chris does. He has it pretty easy being able to schmooze with the guests while his only claim to fame is being a Genius Bar tech that can fix their Apple stuff. His quips he pipes in with are not really funny or entertaining and I'd wish they'd keep him the in background to handle the audio/tech side of things. Heck even in this latest episode they talk about how Chris gave Matt the podcast audio equipment and he left it in his car overnight where it was stolen.

I do, actually. That and morning zoo crew radio shows, Red Bar Radio is probably the worst thing I have ever heard.

But no, Sick & Wrong is hilarious. If you find that quote disgusting, don't listen to the show because you won't like the show. I wasn't pitching it though, I was just quoting a good line from the current episode I was listening to (which one of the 3 sick and wrong stories was about a doctor who molested 103 kids, hence the quote).

I think it's him just trying way too hard to be edgy. It comes off bad because he has no sense of delivery or timing. Such at this:

*Joe is talking fairly seriously about how his dad would beat the poo poo out of his mom*
Redban: Huh, she deserved it though.
Joe and Ari: .........
Redban: Huh-huh, I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding.
Ari: Yeah Brian, we know you're kidding.
Joe: Yeah, I'm not sure why your instincts told you it was a good idea to pull the trigger on that one.

Also, from yesterday's episode (with Duncan Trussell as guest, who's one of my favorites):

Redban: I've tricked two people into putting their finger into my used Fleshlight this week.
Joe: What the gently caress, dude? That's not a trick. You're not loving Lance Burton, that's being a douchebag.

As for charging Pardo and Gervais timed is just right when they started it. At this stage in podcasting I think it is going to be pretty hard to recreate what they did fanbase or not.

Pretty sure he was kidding about that, because Joe immediately laughed when Redban brought up that it would be hosed up if they went home, fingered their girlfriend and knocked her up with his seed.

I gave the context already. Sick & Wrong is a show where the two hosts get the three most disgusting/sick and wrong stories they can find, and compare them while cracking jokes about everything that happens. The one I quoted was about a doctor who molested 103 kids, the youngest being 3 months old. It's no less sick or wrong then Something Awful. Don't listen though if you got disgusted or offended by the quote I posted, because they remain light hearted and jokey about every single thing that happens.

I get the feeling Hardwick doesn't have a ton of material so he tries to gauge what other comedians do to put their stuff together. I've heard him use the cum on a mustache and Vegas stripper pole bits multiple times. He even mentioned it in one of the live episodes that he wasn't going to tape his stand-up for the podcast because he was out of material.

The only loving thing even approaching that from is the bumpers. Other than that, it is the most insane, off-the-rails show I've ever heard in my life. It is hosted by an insane cocaine and Adderal addict and regularly co-hosted by the poorest stand up comic in Chicago (though hopefully his new CD changes this).

(by the way, notice that I'm not recommending it. It is, by far, my favorite podcast, but to say it's not for everyone is putting it lightly - not even in an "it's too edgy man!!" way, but "holy poo poo they just spent an hour screaming at The View" way. Jay and Silent Bob Get Old has been a really good listen so far. The first 8 episodes or so are all about the story of Jason Mewes and his addiction problems, which he's told before on his blog. It's a crazy tale and Kevin Smith is a really good storyteller. I'm just starting in on the newer episodes so I'm not quite sure how the content is going to be from here, but if you've ever read "Me and My Shadow" and liked it, definitely give the earlier shows a listen.

SICK AND WRONG
Two guys in the Bay Area (one of whom is kinda nerdy, but isn't really :goonsay:) discuss gross stories and make observations/comments about them.

Sometimes these comments are funny, but sometimes they veer pretty heavy into the good 'ol racism/sexism/"political incorrectness" etc area. Then they respond to the calls and e-mails of their regular fanbase, who call in with stories about sexual encounters gone wrong/disgusting medical mishaps/opinions on whatever idiot slapfight the hosts are having.

If you want to see what said regular fanbase looks like, :nws:this is their official forum.:nws:

Sometimes they have their moments (their hypothetical Fred Phelps memorial service and the dentist story from the same episode, I think 231? are pretty good), but it's really not that revolutionary or fantastic. If nothing else, it's interesting background noise.

e: realized three days late that there should be some NWS links on the forum link, not like anyone should ever go there.
