As far as I know there isn't. You'd have to go back to school and earn a degree in the sciences (or at least complete a lot of scientific coursework).

GregNorc posted:

The link from my last post lists a job posting for computer scientists at the GS-5 level. The basic requirement is:

"Have at least a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have been in any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions."

So your degree doesn't necessarily need to be in CS if you can show the combined coursework listed above. It's definitely worth applying if you're interested.

The only thing more wasteful than a law degree is a law degree without a license to practice. At this point you might as well just retake and pass the bar so you can call yourself a lawyer. Right now you're like a girl in porn who doesn't do anal. You're already being hosed, you might as well go all the way and get the good money out of it.

Or just take the bar in New Jersey or somewhere similar that lets everyone pass.

We just filed for sanctions for the first time against the opposing party because they violated a court order and they FLIPPED THE gently caress OUT, despite them having requested sanctions against us times in every motion and every response for bringing a "frivolous claim."

To be fair, I'm in a nasty, scummy area of the law where lawyers flip the gently caress out and these people are the exception with reputations around the state for being loving rear end in a top hat scumbags. But yes, I plan to stay here.

Got an interview with another state SC judge...again, one basically diametrically opposed to me philosophically and politically. I don't know if my resume is somehow coming off as conservative despite the criminal defense work, the plaintiff's PI work, and the publication criticizing a tort reform statute, or if these judges just want a devil's advocate type of dude up in their office.

Welp anyway once more into the breach

I thought this was really common? Don't Scalia and Thomas always hire at least 1 leftist hippy clerk? Maybe the State SC justices model themselves after the great overlords Scalia and Thomas.

Justice Thomas has said that choosing clerks is like “selecting mates in a foxhole.”

Anyways, yeah Scalia used to actually care about hearing an opposing point of view

quote:

Justice Scalia for instance used to seek out candidates from the opposite ideological camp when he served on a federal appeals court in Washington and in his early years on the Supreme Court.

“He made it a point of telling me that I was his token liberal,” said E. Joshua Rosenkranz, who clerked for Justice Scalia in 1986, his last year on the appeals court. “To his credit, I’m sure it was largely because he wanted to be sure he always heard the arguments against the positions he was taking.”

It's what Cravath gave last year, which was this really bad year. Now things are better, the PPP is going up, associates are billing more etc, so you'd think maybe people who gutted out a ton of hours would get some acknowledgment of that. They didn't.

To put it in perspective, my dad works retail with no college background and he'll be getting what a mid level would get doing the 9-5 thing. So you know, don't go lovely bonus die alone.
