They're not all that clear. The restore option says "If I reinstall an application, restore backed up settings or other data." That's not really the functionality I want to disable though. The functionality is automatically re-installing apps that were installed before after a fresh install. Restoring my data only when I installed an app myself would be useful. Just mass reinstalling everything, not so much. At the moment I'm thinking maybe just uninstall everything before I wipe and flash CM. I don't recall it offering an option during setup.

Go into settings before you wipe. Uncheck the "Backup" option. Give it a few minutes to be sure it syncs to server. Done. I've done this myself and confirm it works.

Any idea how I can turn off the backlighting on the four buttons in MIUI? Something I appreciated in CM6 for ebook reading, but it doesn't seem to be an option in this ROM.

I just found a fairly serious issue with my N1 running CM6.1 RC2, there is no audio in calls. I've checked the volume levels, tried with vibrate mode on/off and even tried plugging in headphones to see if there is anything but in all cases no audio. Any suggestions? e: out of curiosity I force killed PowerAMP and the sound returned for my calls. Has anyone had an issue like this? I had enabled the EQ in PowerAMP if that makes any difference. e2: I also seem to be going through my battery faster now Zarkov Cortez fucked around with this message at 22:13 on Nov 29, 2010 |

So, how do I determine whether I have pre- or post- November Evo if I bought it today? Rooting is going to be very annoying because my computers don't have an internet connection without tethering, and the guides are for Windows.

I haven't been keeping track of this Android stuff for a long while so it would be a huge boon if someone could give me a hand. So I got a EVO 4G that's been rooted and got it's NAND unlocked with that Simple Root method and its now running Fresh Evo 3.1.0.2. I figure I should just do a complete data wipe, upgrade to the latest version of that ROM, and then install the latest radios and PRI. Would be nice if someone could provide links so I don't have to go searching through the xda forums and somehow end up with a faulty one. Is there anything new I should be aware of?

Just noticed this on my Droid X running Tranquility 3.0 - the green LED notification light stays on when I plug it in. It's brighter than I thought and it lights up a good part of the room at night. Is this supposed to be on?

On the other hand, for $50 more, I could (theoretically) buy an Archos 101, or an Archos 70 for $30 more, and get a better processor and capacitive touchscreen. I'm waiting for Archos to get some stock, which is the only flaw in this plan.

For some reason lately my CPU (on my Evo running the latest fresh) has been running at 98%-100%. Right now It is running at 99.7% In the active applications it says: com.smithmicro.dm, service, 12.2M Gmail, Background, 18.6M Google Search, Background, 12.5M HTC DM, Service, 12.4M HTC IQAgent, Service, 12.7M Lookout, Background, 14.0M Mail, Background, 14.7M Market, Background, 23.9M Messages, Background, 29.6M Open Sense Plugin Manager, Background, 13.7M People, Background, 14.9M Settings, Background, 20.9M Spare Parts, Background, 16.4M SystemPanel Lite, Foreground, 16.0M Titanium Backup, Background, 12.5M Updater, Background, 12.5M Voice Search, Background, 13.0M Voicemail, Service, 13.4M The phone is being super sluggish (the cpu is at 100%) and I can't figure out why. I don't understand why the updater would be running, and the rest of those I closed. Also while reading I saw the smithmicro could have to do with the updater?

I know it is a relatively newer phone but does anyone know if the Samsung Continuum has been rooted yet? I just got the phone on Black Friday and I am thinking about rooting it but not finding much information.

The continuum is REALLY new at this point but, if it is related at all to the Galaxy S line software wise, a root should be coming soon and be relatively easy.

It's gone in 3.5, but you have to update your phone to 2.2.1 which doesn't have a full SBF yet (and using the 2.2 SBF will give you a brick) so do it at your own risk. I like 3.5, for what it's worth. EDIT: and the battery status never force closes, either.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953 This root exploit for 2.2 on the Galaxy S worked 100% even easier than the 2.1 one-click app. I know its old news for some. But with Australian Galaxy S users getting 2.2 only 2 days ago some people might want it.

Thanks for the information. Android Central did a review of the Continuum and were able to root it using Z4Mod. I went ahead and used Z4mod to root my phone. Just a fyi to any Continuum owners the temp root doesn't work and only the perm root works.

Ok so I finally decided I should probably install this sheisty 2.3.20 update that verizon pushed out on the Droid 2's awhile back. I can't install it on my phone most likely because I deleted all their lovely bloatware. Unrooting the phone didn't solve this so I'm assuming I have to put it back to defaults in order to do the update. Should I 1) download the SBF file and flash that or 2) Do the factory hard reset by holding the arrow key and x or whatever. Will that even work if I deleted the default apps from the phone? I assume both of these methods will wipe all my current settings and most likely uninstall all the apps I've accumulated unless I back them up with titanium or something similar?

Spent a day or two with MIUI, switched back to CM6RC2. I think the MIUI team is doing great, but things felt a little unfinished in places and lacked some customization options I've grown used to on CyanogenMod. I'll probably pop back in a few months to see where it is. I do like the MIUI aesthetic though, and it wouldn't surprise me if smaller Chinese manufacturers started running it out of the box.

So I'm trying to get into T-mo, what phone do I grab. The G2 or the MyT4g? I don't care about the keyboard really, but rootability is big. Since Cyanogen runs a G2, I'm thinking I might go w/ that. Does the MyT4g run cyanogen etc? I don't think I can let my guard down for the Nexus S to be honest.. maybe after it comes out I can ditch whichever on craigs and grab the nexus s. I need to get away from my drat hero, its soo loving slow.
