Controller is loving awesome and my favorite album of 08. I cant tell you the amount of times i've listened to that album all the way through. It sucks that they lost those two members, does anyone know if they were the main song-writers for the band or not? Funny enough, the only Misery Signals album i like is controller... Mirrors was pretty generic to me, but something about the way controller sounds is just loving awesome. Its got this kinda epic spacious thing going on, and some of the guitar tracks (there not really riffs, i dont know how to explain them) just help set the mood to it.

Yeah I think I know what you mean with the guitar playing, there is often some "atmospheric" stuff going that creates a pretty unique sound. But this is definately also on their other stuff. Controller sounds just a bit, I don't know, tighter? than Mirrors.

Misery Signals hasn't written a single bad song. All their albums are different, which makes it tricky to get into each one since you have to expect something different each time. I listened to them before Controller came out, so when I first heard it, the album took me a couple of listens before it clicked and I realized how brilliant it was. The only thing I don't like about their second album is the producing. It's a little too distorted and loud. Despite that, the song 'The Failsafe' is one of my favorite songs of all time. The breakdown in that song makes me want to hurt things. Also, someone introduced me to this band earlier in this thread and they need another plug in case some people still haven't checked them out, they are loving amazing and deserve more widespread recognition. Listen to Elitist: http://www.myspace.com/theelitistband Check out the tracks 'Array' and 'Caves.' If those don't get your head bobbing, I don't know what will.

I just stumbled upon a band from India called Bhayanak Maut. The first three songs on their profile are a new recording, far better quality than the rest. They definitely fall under the blanket term "metalcore" and are maybe a little generic. But if you like vocals with a bit of character, catchy guitar riffs, and a really tight and technical recording, check them out.

I know it's old news by now as I have already posted a similar link but my band's first album is now up on bandcamp. If you missed it the first time around, give us a listen. If you like us the first time around, now's your chance to grab the songs in .flac format or in pretty much anything better than 192kps mp3s. As a bonus, every artwork from the booklet is included in the file. obsek.bandcamp.com

These dudes are definitely not a new band but I feel like they're extremely under the radar. Cipher are a band from NY who personify the whole reason why the hardcore scene is such an important phenomena in a lot of people's lives. They're very preachy but I agree with them on every level of sentiment that I've read/heard. The singer is a real genuine dude and I've been seeing them play for years off and on. They don't have a very appealing sound as far as crowd-pleasing hardcore/metal goes but they should be bigger than they are based on integrity and passion alone. If you haven't heard of them check them out for sure. http://www.myspace.com/cipher

I haven't used megaupload before so hopefully these links work. Curse is a rough mix and is missing main vocals during the last part, but you'll get a good idea of how it will end up sounding. Sticks and Stones just needs to be mastered and has guest vocals on it done by Jamie from Those Who Lie Beneath. Edit: The YEAAAAAH at the beginning of Curse is a joke, not gonna be in the final mix. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E9QW7HPK http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BSS1YUZN

The singing is really lame. I dunno there's no punch or anything. Plus too much singing and not enough screaming. Which is weird because I think Killswitchs first album is amazing!

I agree. Disappointing. I really like Jesse's scream, it has a certain wetness to it. Very rash. It's totally under-utilized in the song with the video. The singing is also more of a yell which is lame. I'd rather him bring back the KSE style singing. The music is cool, but that style of metalcore has been around the block a billion times since Alive or Just Breathing and it doesn't really sound fresh and exciting like it used to. This is all based off of hearing one song mind you. But that's my opinion.

I really like it. The only complaint I have is that Adam's vocals are too overproduced a lot of the time. I know he's an incredible producer, but he has a great voice too, damnit. No need to do that.

I dont know exactly how to explain it, its just way to clean (and always seems louder in the mix then almost everything else, including other peoples vocals) I guess he can get away with it, since he mixes/produces the majority of albums he works on!

I figured I've read this here thread enough, that I oughta toss in my two bits. You folk have pretty good taste for the most part, so I figured you would like these little ditty-makers. I don't think they've been brought up here. http://download.ironthrones.com/album/the-wretched-sun Impeccable musicianship, no wankery, and their vocals reminds me of Karl from Misery Signals at times. I dig their orchestration, there's hardly any filler, and they know how to bring a good punch or crescendo when need be. Occasional clean vocals, but I think they pull it off nicely. They seem pretty nice from their Facebook too. My personal favorite is "Like A Moth to Flame". http://www.myspace.com/chambersrock/music I heard these guys described as a drunk ETID, and I agree. Pissed off, dirty rock and roll with the occasional solo. A bit simplistic, but take 4 or 5 shots and you'll like it just fine. Buuuut, they just tossed their old singer, but he joined up with, Alex, the guitarist from the Gaslight Anthem to make Something About Death Or Dying, which I haven't listened to enough to describe it. But sounds drat good to me so far, check that out here. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Something-About-Death-or-Dying/115061555189273
