A friend and I were watching Episode I for comedic value the other day. He said someone should dub over Jar-Jar's lines and give him a gruff voice. I agreed. George is a right? I mean, there's really no way I can suspend my disbelief for a relationship between Anakin and Padme when the kid is that young in Episode I.

Yeah, he must have been using one of the major game mods which is awesome in all ways but balance issues and barely any of the modded ships break up into debris like with the vanilla game models.

I think Jar Jar would be a lot more bearable if he had a Creole accent actually.

Yeah, it plays all alien's dialouge in reverse so it sounds like alien gibberish, and lets him subtitle his own lines in. He rewrote Jar Jar as a bit of an everyman (took out most of the "wacky" antics) and actually is decently likeable, very "man these Jedi are loving crazy!" Also makes the Neimondians more sinister and not HARRO WE TAKE YOUR RAND NOW VVV HEH. RagnarokAngel fucked around with this message at 18:54 on Dec 6, 2010 |

One of the big fan edits (pretty sure it was "The Phantom Edit", but I may be wrong) adds some gibberish over his dialogue, and then uses subtitles. And the subtitles make him out to be a rather funny, not very annoying character. He sort of fits into the Han Solo role in the edit (not saying he's as good, but he's the skeptic with a bit of an ego). It really helped the movie more than I would have expected. They did the same for the Trade Federation dialogue, and made the embargo at the beginning about slavery. Which was also a big improvement, as it made the movie actually be about something.

Imperial ships functioned as carriers in both the basic game and the expansion. Star Destoyers(Victory, Acclamator, and Imperial) would automatically start the map with 2 or 3, 3 ship squadrons. When those original squadrons would die they would spawn 1 replacement squadron per original one launched. The Executor didn't start with any squadrons but instead had an ability that was on like a 10 second cooldown that would spawn a squadron. You would randomly get either an Interceptor, Bomber, or Defender. I never used any mods.

Oh man, almost finished with Vortex, and not a whole lot has happened. Some big-ish spoilers ahead, if anyone actually cares. So Abeloth isn't dead, unfortunately. Nek'Buatu is in a coma. Luke and Ben chase after Abeloth with Vestara in tow, and she heads off to a force using moon I can't remember the name. Meanwhile, where I'm at, Jaina and some other Jedi are preparing to rescue the frozen horn kids. The siege ended now that the "barvy" jedi are fine now, and the mando's left. Probably the biggest and most exciting thing to happen so far is Kenth Hamner being ousted as Grand Master. The council finally has enough of his bullshit and confine him to quarters while they work on a huge plan to send stealth x's to help Luke. He escapes and tries to sabotage the plan in the temple hanger. He gets into a pretty nasty fight with Saba Sebatine and runs her through before she force hurls him off a catwalk 50 meters up. So yeah, bye bye Kenth. I have about 3 hours left in the book, I forget which chapter I'm at since I'm listening to the audiobook.

This next thing isn't really a vortex spoiler, more of just my thoughts on where fotj is going, but it sort of spoils something from vortex I guess so I tagged it anyways. I guess I spend too much time in TVIV and am paranoid about spoilers and stuff now. The fact that they are still willing to kill relatively major characters gives me hope that one of ben or vestara might actually kill the other rather than having some re-hashed "vestara loves ben so she turns to the light side" ending.

Is Talon becoming another abeloth? It started to sound like it, the way they were describing him after he was in the pool. I ended where they just met Abeloth again. The best part is, they say the next book is the one that REALLY ramps up the "stakes". Woo.

I think he's dead for good, there's no real reason to keep him around as a character if abeloth is alive anyways. But yeah I really just want them to go back to letting authors publish standalone stuff. Sure they end up with probable continuity issues and the rare (or not so rare) Crystal Star quality novel, but I think the pre-NJO EU on a whole was better since author's could just write however they wanted to write, without trying to fit into some bigger plot arc. Like I think Allston's x-wing books are a ton better than any of his NJO/LOTF/FOTJ work. I've posted this before and I think someone replied that they are in fact going to go back to standalone stuff after this finishes anyways, so I really hope that's true. edit: I guess I should add that I really did like NJO, but everything after that has been mediocre to bad. astr0man fucked around with this message at 00:48 on Dec 8, 2010 |

This series just gets dumber and dumber. I don't understand how killing Kenth is going to do any good. He's trying to hold the Jedi together and even if he's pretty drat useless, you don't have to loving kill him. The whole Vestara and Ben side plot is mildly interesting but as a whole, this series is awful.

I've taken out entire fleets of enemy ships with it. So I think "I'll just auto-resolve this one fight." Sure enough the Executor goes down in flames. I calmly quit the game, took the CD out of my computer, then snapped this disc in half. Why are you guys still reading that tripe? Going through the spoilers makes the general plot seem significantly worse than a good chunk of the fan fiction I used to read. Are they dead loving serious with ANOTHER force using planetoid, a Cthulu analogue and actually continuing to write Daala as if she was the leader of the Alliance? That should have been retconned with an apologyto the readers in the book subsequent to the last LotF novel. What happened to you, EU? This must be what it's like to see your child grow up to be a meth head.

They could declare the last few series through Dark Nest to be entirely a meta crazy vision by Abeloth, then Pellaeon shows up and blasts the poo poo out of Abeloth and then all the heroes ride off into the sunset. Also, killing Kenth Hamner is like the most blatant and weakest "poo poo got real" moment since uh he's pretty much never been given any characterization. Ever.

To this day I find many of the older books to be a lot of fun and good for a reread. I think we can overlook a lot when the story is entertaining and an adventure occurs. Besides, if the name Luuke Skywalker was the stupidest thing in that series then it didn't do too poorly. Besides, as Fox of Stone said the X-Wing series is also frequently considered the best the EU has to offer. Even with the horse pilot. Because it's fun. Sentient, force-using planets and constantly bleak novels containing characters who no longer have the ability to communicate with one-another or remember things from earlier in the book and all this new stuff people are bringing up.....it's so lazy.

Hope I can apologize ahead of time if this isn't the right spot for the question, but it is Star Wars related. I have a Star Wars blanket that is probably over 25/30+ years old by now, in pretty good condition, and I can't find a price for it or what it is worth. I saw a similar blanket listed for about 12.00$ on Etsy, but the one I have is very definitely not the same one. Etsy:http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/star-wars-fleece-blanket-original-from-the-70s Mine is a similar material but different images, and I can't find another like it. It has Darth's head in the background, Leia kneeling beside Luke and Luke raising a lightsaber above his head. C3P0 and R2D2 are large, Han and Chewbacca are smaller. I'll see if I can get a picture up shortly, but I was just wondering if someone here would know where I could find out what 'edition' it is labelled and if it is of any value, etc. It's my childhood blanket and I just found it in a storage closet a while back.
