I guess it could be one of the movies Cate Blanchett starred in but I'm ruling those out for now. The main subject might not be a queen but I have this image in my mind from seeing a clip on a late night talk show of a Elizabethan looking queen, complete with the white make-up and red/purple dress, being all terse and stuffy.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) had Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth.

If you're thinking Queen Victoria then The Young Victoria came out in 2009.

I can't fill you in on the specifics on those typefaces (just go to DaFont and find any technical ones, they're more or less the same), though I can give some insight into the rest of it.

Tron: Legacy's title, credit and screen design was all done by Prologue. In the recent past, they most notably also did screen design for Iron Man / Iron Man II.

I'm fairly certain I was the only one who noticed (:reject:), but the interfaces in the main Encom boardroom/on the iPad used the same fonts (Looks like FF Din for most of it, but I may be mistaken) and many of the same graphical elements as were used on the Iron Man II displays -- I could tell right away they it was done by the same company. This bothers me.*

Though Prologue has been doing quite a bit of screen/hud display (&c), Prime Focus is another contender in the field. Namely: Avatar.

These studios do a hybrid of motion graphics** and visual effects**, meaning they're able to take on a wide array of work (commercial, film, etc).

Other studios that worked on this film, with what I know of the studios that worked on it / who did what. May be incomplete.
  • Digital Domain (Bulk of the work, including de-aging Jeff Bridges to Clu)
  • Mr. X (The big military base/hangar at the end -- they sort of screwed the pooch on this one, but that's a story for another day)
  • Prime Focus (Elevator/exterior of club/solar sailer sequences)
  • Prologue (Screen/interface design)
  • Ollin Studio (Set extensions, Sam's being fitted for the light suit, other 'invisible' effects)
  • Lola Visual Effects (Reference / consultation on making characters younger)
  • Yannix (Stereo tracking)
  • Whiskeytree (Matte painting)
  • Electronic Arts (Motion capture)
  • Prana Studios

Lest I keep going on, if you've got any further questions / wondering about anything else to do with screen/interface design, toss me a PM.

*This blatant laziness is offending. Even if it's done well.

I was going 40 in a 45 and drove past a cop that had pulled someone else over on the right side. I was in the right lane. As soon as I passed him, he jumped in his car and gave me a 'Failed to yield to an emergency vehicle' ticket. The ticket was only for $89.49 which isn't my huge concern.

My real concern is I have a clean driving record excluding this. Will this ticket affect my car insurance premium? I'm worried because I just acquired my first auto loan and my insurance is already a tad steep.

I'm not a music theorist or anything but that wiki says "immediate restatement" which I don't think necessarily applies to what he's talking about. The first thing that came to mind from his post was this song (go to 1:05 and then skip to 2:45 for the regular and keyed up choruses)

I dunno though I guess that word could mean that thing too

I see your point. Damnit, I didn't care and was going to bed, now I must know and am having flashbacks to high school music classes!!

It does say immediate restatement, I swear I had a feeling it'd been explained to be to also cover what the original question was referring to...bah!

I feel like Modulation has something to do with it too...does this look like our answer?

http://howmusicreallyworks.com/Pages_Chapter_6/6_12.html

I was looking particularly at shift modulation:

Weird Website posted:

Typically, a shift upwards occurs near the end of a song to create a contrast with the rest of the song. For example, the song starts off in, say, the key of C. Then, for the last verse or chorus, tonality shifts upwards to the key of D. Why? Because an increase in pitch is exciting (recall “Emotional Effects of Pitch” near the end of Chapter 3).

The hallmark of shift modulation is that the song almost always does not return to the original key, as is the case with other kinds of modulation. Ballad-like songs sometimes shift-modulate to relieve monotony.

I don't know if there's really a name for it beyond just "modulation;" to me it seems like they just add that in so they can make the song not seem too short, and ratchet up the emotion (or whatever) just a bit, since that's what modulating up by a step usually does.

Colloquially, it's known as a 'truck driver's gear change'. There's a website and everything.

Truck Driver's Gear Change FAQs posted:

1. Who or what is a truck driver's gear change?

Many writers and arrangers feel that when their song is in risk of getting a bit tired, it can be given a fresh lease of life by shifting the whole song up a key, usually in between choruses, towards the beginning of a "repeat-till-fade" section. You may have heard this technique informally referred to as "modulation", but the correct ethnomusicological term for the phenomenon is the truck driver's gear change. This reflects the utterly predictable and laboured nature of the transition, evoking a tired and over-worked trucker ramming the gearstick into the new position with his – or, to be fair, her – fist.

Contrary to what many people seem to think, the truck driver's gear change is in no way inventive, interesting or acceptable: it is in fact an utterly appalling and unimaginative admission that you've run out of inspiration and the song should have ended one minute ago; but you're under pressure to make something which can be stretched out to the length of a single. The concept of the truck driver's gear change seems to transcend all musical styles, from Perry Como to The Misfits, although my investigations reveal that it's most prevalent in mainstream pop, and, let's face it, it's unlikely to feature in hip-hop. But who's to say.

This may perhaps all sound a little abstract. So for recommended initiation into the concept of the truck driver's gear change, I suggest you check out Crazy Crazy Nights by Kiss, which is a perfect example of the, ahem, oeuvre. Many experts agree that the single greatest gear change of all time is Michael Jackson's Man In The Mirror, though you should be aware that it may make you physically sick. In a subtler vein, gear changes like Gabrielle's Sunshine are for the experienced listener only.

For a more theoretical look at the phenomenon, please check out the excellent article "A muso's introduction", which author Dominic Pedler has kindly contributed to the site.

That's funny because I was thinking of a Michael Jackson song as the worst example of this but it was "Heal the World". I think he actually does it twice at the end. "Man in the Mirror" is actually an ok song. "Heal the World" is pretty terrible.

Depends on your city/state but my guess would be this will almost surely count against you. The only things that I've known of to not count are non-moving violations. A burnt out light, expired tag/inspection, parking and speeding less than 10mph. That's the only one I know of that involves moving that doesn't count here in OK anyway.

Your rates won't instantly go up though. Your insurance company has to do a search on you for new violations and if they find one it raises your rate when your next policy starts.

They might not do a search before your next renewal (I've heard a lot of companies don't do it every policy renewal) so you might be good for another 6 months after your current expires.

If you can find a new insurance company with a good rate right now before you pay that ticket and are able to cancel your current, I don't think they'd see it and they might wait a year before they do another search too.

Unless you like have a year-long policy you just started.

edit: you might try to go to court too, the worst that will happen is a couple hours lost time and you end up with the same hits to your record you're already expecting. And the best is just with a little talking a judge or ADA they might lower it, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle sounds pretty bad and (in my opinion at least) you're on the very low end of badness of what badness that charge could describe, you really just failed to move left for a stopped one. When I was 17 I got caught leaving 100ft long 245mm black stripes on the ground inside a smoke cloud and just said to the ada something like "someone told me I should come talk to you instead of simply paying this, I don't know what I'm doing or what to say" I got off with paying the full fine but no points.

The exterior walls likely have really good insulation, while your interior walls don't and heat is transferring from your neighbors.
