Thanks to this thread I've been able to find the instructions for a pirate ship I had when I was a kid! As soon as I'm back at home, I'm going to see if I still have all the pieces!

I wonder why Lego has released so few pirate ships the last ten or so years. The way AFOLs go nuts and snap them off the shelves, I assume ships are always profitable. Yet we've only gotten two or three since 2000. Do kids not get excited about pirates anymore, or what?

Theres a poo poo ton of Pirates of the Caribbean stuff coming out this summer. Hopefully this will jump start the Pirates line again after the last attempt faded away.

The most recent pirates line was horribly overpriced. I couldn't justify plunking down $100 for a 600 piece pirate ship. That probably kept it from catching on. Is there an actual Black Pearl set forthcoming? I didn't see mention of a ship on those leaked set lists, just a "Captain's Cabin" or some such.

I've spent a good hour or so re-living the past and looking at Lego Star Wars sets on eBay/Amazon. If I weren't so poor... Doing this almost gave me a heart attack - My girlfriend got me two mini sets (Imps and Rebels) either last Christmas or the one before that. I found them on Amazon selling for around £20-35 and was gob-smacked that she'd spent so much on two little joke presents. Turns out that she would've got them from about £5-10 from Toys'r'Us, though. Also, this year for Christmas my mum got me the best alarm clock ever: Click here for the full 804x1072 image. (My phone doesn't take very nice pictures, sorry) Edit: In a total lack of self control, an X-Wing will arrive at my door in 3-5 working days. So I spent the past two hours working on the X-wing. Only to realize i had horribly misprinted directions. I figured the one wing being doubled up was an accident. (rather than doing the mirrored wings in the directions, it told me to build the same wing twice). Then the directions skipped from page 32 to page 38, and then repeated 38-42 twice. Ooops. Luckily the correct instructions are online, but drat, this is the biggest pain in the rear end set I've ever built. It's one of the coolest sets I've ever built, but it's a drat pain.

Brickset is currently listing 4184 Black Pearl and 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge. If I'm reading the numbers right, the 4180s are original trilogy sets, with 4184 as the largest, and the 4190s are for the new movie, with 4195 as the largest. They're probably both large sets.

Finally got back from the holidays - my family is awesome! Picked up a bunch of great clearance items with some Christmas money they gave me at Wal-Mart (although literally every single Wal-Mart I went to had entirely different clearance items) - 2x Midi Scale Imperial Star Destroyer for $16 each (every other Wal-Mart had them for $32 each), Prince of Persia Battle of Alamut for $35, and some of the small bagged sets at Target for $.99 each. My wife was also kind enough to buy me Green Grocer and the Castle Advent Calendar - Green Grocer is by far the most fun I've ever had building a LEGO set. Being able to see a completed Green Grocer as well as how it went together also has me working on my own modular building to attach - I have the general shape/layout in mind, still trying to decide exactly what the theme is going to be - thinking either hardware store or pet shop.

You'd better believe I still have every single component from that son of a bitch, except for the rigging which was replaced somewhere down the line with homemade rigging my mom made. I'm halfway tempted to dig it out and build it again, but I have nowhere to put it

That store was pretty much the only place in the country that still had any at that point, because one of their big resellers had ordered 20 or so and then backed out. The deal was sweetened even further by the store honoring the online clearance price so I got $125 off as well

Barometer posted:Also, I bought one of those giant Minifig heads and now it's sitting in my living room annoying the hell out of my GF. I've been looking at buying one for my sorting, but it seems like the kind of thing I'd use in one big sort, then never touch again. I do have a couple questions about it, though. How many sorting grids does it have? IIRC, the box only showed two, which isn't very good for $30-40. What size pieces do they sort? In the money-I-didn't-need-to-spend category, I went to TRU and picked up the Ninjago white dragon thing, and the $6 impulse kit. The two playsets are a bit overpriced, so I won't consider them until there's a BOGO.5 deal or something. They have a promotion where if you spend $20 on Ninjago stuff, you get a free battle card and a card binder. I have no use for them, but I grabbed them anyway. Also, they have all Christmas stuff for 75% off. In Lego terms, that means they had dozens upon dozens of the Christmas tree polybags (47 pieces), for $1 apiece. There was an entire endcap side-shelf filled with them, and a bin that was at least 3' deep full of them up by the register. No snowmen, though, which would have been better since they have 6 of the 1x1 bricks with the hollow stud on the side. I had a $5 rewards coupon, so I got 5 of 'em for the hell of it.

I'm debating on selling all the legos I have. So if any of you goons are in the vicinity of Grand Rapids, MI and are willing to drop about $800.00 on a crap load of legos (I think a few pages back I posted a list of what I had, just minus the Star Wars sets since my brother asked for them.) I'd rather sell them to a goon first before I plop the collection on craigs list. Send me a pm, shipping would cost a ton so that's why I'd like to keep it local.
